2011 Conference

2011 Jazzy Notes:

Badges Your badge is your key to the MAGPPA world. To gain entrance to ALL events, including the Social, you MUST be wearing your badge. Even if we know ya, you’ve got to be wearing your badge to enter the event!

Shuttle Service If you are staying at the Eola, transportation will be provided only to events not being held at the Convention Center. For events at the Convention Center, just walk down the hill. The Convention Center is across the street from the Grand Hotel. The Grand Soleil is providing their own shuttle. Please check with the hotel for details. If you are staying at the Hampton Inn, you can park your car and leave the driving to us! Shuttle service from the Hampton Inn will be provided to all conference events. Transportation is not provided from the Dunleith Plantation.

Attire Casual business is the attire for the day events at Conference. Nighttime events, with the exception of the President’s Reception and Dinner, are casual. For the President’s Dinner, we request nice business attire (or even dressier). No shorts, no flip-flops and no jeans. And yes, you must be wearing shoes!

Breakfast Every day, except Wednesday, breakfast will be provided by your hotels!

Opening Ceremony (Monday) The Opening Ceremony will feature guest speaker State Auditor Stacey Pickering. We will also be welcomed by Natchez Mayor Jake Middleton and by the Adams County Board of Supervisors President Darryl Vanrich.

Product Exposition (Monday) The product expo is divided into two parts – one for the governing authorities and one for the state agencies. Please check the schedule to be sure you are attending during the right time.

Boxed Lunch (Monday) All the lunches will be the same. So get in line, grab a box and chow down! Seating will be provided in the River Suites.

Fish Fry (Monday night) Puckett Machinery is hosting a fish fry for all MAGPPA delegates prior to the social. Transportation will be provided to the Bowie Tavern. Be sure to check your schedule for specific boarding times. And once you’re there, stay for the social.

Movie Night If you registered to attend the movie, please check your registration packet for a special flyer indicating where and when to meet to board the buses. If you did not pre-register, we have not ordered a ticket for you. Attending the movie will be at your personal expense.

2011 Conference

Social (Monday night) Put on your dancing shoes, hop on the shuttle and cruise on over to the Bowie Tavern. You’ve heard about it, now come experience it for yourself. Easy Eddie and the Partyrockers will have you on the dance floor before you know it! And a shuttle will safely deliver you back to your hotel!

Business Lunch (Tuesday) Have a little food, conduct a little business, an enjoyable way to spend an hour. We are honored to have Dr. Jerry Emison, from Mississippi State University, joining us as our speaker. As part of the business meeting, we will be voting on the location for the 2014 Conference. We will also be presenting the Roy Saye and Oren Segrest awards.

President’s Dinner (Tuesday night) Before the dinner begins, there will be a reception featuring the Osgood and Blaque Duo. The dinner will start at 7 and will feature a great buffet. As a special treat, we are honored to have as our special guests “Southern Road to Freedom”, a local gospel group. And if that is not enough, we will also be inducting the 2012 MAGPPA officers. And after the President’s Dinner, Osgood and Blaque will again perform. And you thought Monday night was the entertainment night!

Closing Session (Wednesday morning) As the 2011 Conference draws to a close, Clint Swindall will be our keynote speaker. And we do have some fabulous door prizes – think flat screen TV…

Hospitality Suite The location of the Hospitality Suites will be available at the Information Desk. The Hospitality Suites are open to all MAGPPA delegates. The Hospitality Suites will be open on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. Be sure to listen to all announcements for additional information.

Information Booth If you need some information, lost something or found something, stop by the information booth in the foyer of the convention center for some assistance. If any changes are made to the events, this information will be presented at the Information Booth. If you see someone wearing a blinking “2011” pin, they are a Conference volunteer, feel free to ask them questions too!

First Timers All the really nice people wearing the smiley face buttons on their lanyards are the first timers. WELCOME FIRST TIMERS – CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

Surveys “Why da ya gotta be so negative all the time? Why can’t you offer some …constructive criticism?” – Elwood Blues (The Blues Brothers). Please fill out all surveys. This helps us continue the activities everyone enjoys and improve the others.
