The history of clocks is one that is very broad. In ancient times, people developed various ways for telling time.The word "clock" comes from the French word clothe, meaning bell.

In 1957, Swiss Jost Burgi invented the minute hand which became part of a clock invention made for Tycho Brahe, an astronomer who saw a need for an accurate clock for stargazing.

In 1858, Hamliton Smith patented the rotary washing machine.

In 1874, William Blackstone of Indiana built a birthday present for his wife that was a machine that could remove and wash away dirt from clothing. This was the first washing machine foe convenient use in the home.

The first electric-powered washing machine was called The Mighty Thor. It was invented by Alva J. Fisher and was patented on August 9th of 1910.

DRYER MACHINEDRYER MACHINEThere was an early invention of a clothes dryer in 1892 by George T. Sampson. It used heat from a stove to dry clothes and was a ventilator type machine.

The electric clothes dryer appeared around 1915.
