“Big or Small, Let’s Save Them All”PINK IS THE COLOR OF FEMININITY, GOODNESSAND BEAUTY. In October, all across the country, sisters, mothers, daughters, family and friends makewomen’s health a priority. On Thursday, October 18,2012, more than 500 peoplearrived at the Westin MemorialCity to recognize the ongoingefforts of dedicated advocates, researchers, and healthcareproviders who strive each day to defeat this terrible disease. The event raised more than$210,000 to benefit the Bobetta C.Lindig Breast Center at MemorialHermann Memorial City MedicalCenter. Many of the luncheonattendees were breast cancer survivors and current patients who were sponsored to attend bydonations from local individuals and corporations.
The luncheon, presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, began with shopping and a champagne receptionunderwritten by H-E-B and culminated with the luncheon and presentation from keynote speaker, BillRancic. ABC13’s Dave Ward emceed the event, whichhonored breast cancer survivor and Razzle Dazzle Pink!inaugural co-chair, Ann Cazalot. Ann is a two-timebreast cancer survivor who spoke humbly after beingintroduced by event chairs, Julie Comiskey and WendyMitchell. During Ann’s eloquent speech she thanked the audience for using their collective voice to helpfind a cure for breast cancer “in the hopes that nowoman, young or old, will ever have to go through it.”
The mood was set when caretakers, family and friendsof survivors were asked to stand and be honored.Rancic spoke about he and his wife, Guiliana’s, breastcancer journey to their present miracle, their son, Duke.He delivered a male perspective on being a caretaker,
with Razzle Dazzle Pink!discussing the “many hats” worn when making thatjourney with a loved one.
While more than 200,000 women will bediagnosed with breast cancer this year, countless lives are being saved every daydue to increased awareness, improvedtreatments and early detection.

THE ANNUAL “IN THE PINK OF HEALTH” BREAST CANCER AWARENESSLUNCHEON is produced by a group of passionate and commit-ted women who change lives by raising fundsto fight breast cancer and support women’shealth through Memorial Hermann TheWoodlands Hospital.
And they are making a difference.
On October 12th, Memorial Hermann TheWoodlands hosted the most successful “In the Pink of Health” luncheon to date at TheWoodlands Waterway Marriot Hotel. More than $680,000 was raised to support MemorialHermann The Woodlands Breast and Bone Center. The record 1,260 attendees were treated to a cham-pagne reception, shopping and silent auction.Memorial Hermann’s breast cancer experts were on hand manning information booths at the event.Chicago Bridge & Iron renewed their partnership as the event’s 2012 Presenting Sponsor.
“The community’s response to this year’s luncheon has been overwhelming,” said luncheon co-chairsMegan Alexander and Ruth Hiller. “In fact, theevent sold out before we could get the invitationsout the door!”
The presentation by keynote speakers Giuliana andBill Rancic was the highlight of the afternoon.Together, they have a hit reality show on the StyleNetwork and co-authored a national bestseller, I Do, Now What? In addition to sharing their insightsinto coping with Giuliana’s breast cancer diagnosisand the journey to survivorship, the couple also spoke about the experience from the often unheardperspective of the caregiver. Giuliana and Bill credittheir successes to the power of positive thinking and maintaining a happy outlook on life.
Since 2001, more than $2 million has been raised by “In the Pink of Health” events to provide the women of Montgomery Countywith access to screening, education and information on early detection as well as the most advanced imaging and treatment technology available.
