TRANSCRIPT
This past Saturday, January 28, we had a house full of artists coloring away in pencil under the leadership of our own Andrea Scott. Feathers everywhere were flying as we added each one to "Behind the Curtain," a beautiful colored pencil project of a baby swan. We all had a great time and accomplished a lot. This February 25th, our own Stephanie Pooler leads us in the water in more ways than one. We will be water color painting the "Koi Fish Pond." The colors are vibrant and inviting for sure. It's great to have our own members share their talents and know how. From March we voted to change our yearly basket luncheon date and place to October 28th at the Cypress Gardens Mobile Home and RV Park at 1951 Lake Daisy Road, Winter Haven, Florida. The clubhouse where we have been monthly meeting will be decorated for the season and the food will be prepared by a gourmet chef--what more can you ask?! So--all of us will be diligently preparing for art projects for the repurposed basket luncheon that includes a silent auction and an auction where excitement flies! Later in March we'll be under the tutorage of Mark Menendez for two days, March 25 and March 26. Each day will be fantastic in painting in oil, "The Golden Iris" on Saturday and then in colored pencil, "The Cardinal," following on Sunday. Be sure to sign up and send your registrations in to Stephanie Pooler. The form is in the back of our newsletter.

(continued from page 1) April's meeting will be full preparing for our May Conference in Daytona (May 17-20). We will be working on items to promote our chapter while there. Everyone--come on and enjoy doing and finishing projects as well. We also need donations of fabric, dominos, etc. May 17-20 we hope many will register to go. It's right in our backyard in Daytona, Florida. We encourage you to register for our Society Conference. The excitement and fun enjoyed by all in learning new project techniques and making new friends as well as seeing the old ones, all here in sunny Florida. A beach delight with sea breezes and great food, may I add...And don't forget the shopping at the different booths. My own art-craft room is bulging now, but there's always room for more! Right?!!! :) May 27th is scheduled for our charity painting as well as sharing what we did at the conference. We encourage you to keep selling the raffle tickets for our awesome quilt. Need more tickets? See Vicki Alley. Also, FYI: our meeting time to paint was changed from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Seminar days will be announced if they differ. In addition, we have two openings for leadership in for manning Hospitality and also for the basket luncheon. Let me know if you want to volunteer. We welcome those who have accepted taking on these positions: sunshine by Judi Arntz and ways and means by Michelle Mueller, and our very appreciated Deanna Spence who is our newspaper editor. And best yet, we welcome our new members since December and January: Debbie Smith, Eileen Betton, Diane Campeau, and Anna Marie Fleck. Now you are part of our CRDA family and we look forward to seeing you enjoy our fun each month. We are looking forward to seeing all of you Feb 25 and the ensuing months!
Ways and Means Table:
Do you have some painting books or pattern packets you will
probably never use? Or you have used them and won’t be using
them again? Bring them in for the Ways and Means table.
And don’t forget your birthday surprise for the table. Your birthday
only comes once a year, bring something special, painting related
and gift wrapped, for the Ways and Means table.

Ways & Means/SDP Conference News By Vicki Alley
We came up with some ideas for something to sell at our table for the Chapter
Marketplace at the SDP conference. In addition to having the quilt there, we thought
we would also make some commemorative pins to sell. We thought we could use
dominoes with a pin glued on the back and stamp a design on them and then paint or
use colored pencils. We’re thinking of a seahorse since that’s part of the design for the
conference. I’m going to try out some designs and will keep everyone posted.
As far as scheduling time slots for manning the table at the conference, I have heard
from six members so far so I can work out a schedule that is fair to everyone.
Here’s the names I have so far working the table: Vicki Alley, Suzi Mills, Michelle
Mueller, Barbara Fowler, Andie Scott, and Bonnie Rand. The more people we have that
can be at the table for just a couple of hours, the less we each have to be there. Plus, the
Gulf to Bay chapter will be sharing the table with us, so that will help.
Thanks everyone! I hope we have a good turnout for the conference. And I will tell you
that often times, when there are quite a few members of a chapter in attendance, they
will all wear the same painted shirt to the annual meeting and perhaps to the banquet
as well. Should we think of doing something like that?? Are you interested?

Membership News
I received the “black tote bag” from Barbara Fowler at the last monthly meeting. It contained the history of Citrus Ridge Decorative Artists (CRDA) membership from 2009 through 2016. There’s little fluctuation in the total number of members, but what was interesting the members’ names changed. Each year brought several new members and each year we lost several old members. It looks like CRDA will be celebrating it tenth year in 2018. There are nine members who did not renew their membership from 2016, they will be hearing from me and hopefully they will share their reasoning for not returning. It’s important to know this for many reasons. Expectedly, they could have moved from the area. There were 19 of 26 members and three guests attending our January meeting. CRDA did receive four new members. Let’s give a heartily welcome to snowbirds Eileen Betton and Pam House, and Florida residents Anna Marie Fleck and Debbie Smith. Welcome aboard and here’s to smooth sailin’ in the sea of paint, new friends, and fun times.
