President’s Report

Dear Members,Bangalore went to the polls on 18th April 2019 to elect its MPs to the Lok Sabha. It was disappointing to note that the turnout in our city was rather poor compared to the other places which went to the polls. Hopefully members of the CC did not shirk their responsibility and went out in large numbers and exercised their franchiseThe period of Lent is over and during this period the Faith Department conducted recollection programs every week which were well attended and appreciated by many members. These programs will not be restricted to the Lenten period but will be held on a regular basis throughout the year. We look forward to your continued participation.Though there were no entertainment programs during Lent, there was still plenty going on in club. Summer Camp 2019 saw a large number of children enjoy a week of games, movies and plenty of fun. It also gave them an opportunity familiarize themselves with their surroundings and country in an interactive fun space. Spunky Brats and iKidz young readers enjoyed a great time at the Easter Monday Egg Hunt.IBrowse had the launch of Sadiqa Peerbhoy’s new period drama, set in Royal Rajasthan, ‘Mayurkhund’. A full house witnessed an enchanting evening with Rajasthani avors, colorful décor and props making it a truly memorable evening for one and all. After a break of more than 45 days it was time to put on your dancing shoes as the club celebrated ‘Easter Night’ with ‘LYNX’ one of Goa’s top bands in attendance. Large gathering of members and their guests danced the night away and celebrated the end of the Lenten season.Club celebrates May 1st as Sta Day each year; it’s a Club holiday as we play host to our sta and their families for lunch and entertain them with fun and games. Each sta member will be given a well-deserved gift at the end of the day’s program. Members are most welcome to join the sta in their celebration. This year we will be honoring our sta member Mr. Henry Maran, who completes 25 years of service to the Club. God bless and may his tribe increase

With rains around the corner there should be some respite from the heat for all of us and hopefully the month of May will see some pleasant weather.Best Wishes!!!

Contributed by Sameera Fernandes Easter CelebrationEaster is a time of hope, love and togetherness. It spells out beauty – the rare beauty of new life!On the 22nd of April, over 50 children and a few parents got a chance to witness a beautiful Easter celebration with a well decorated hall adorned with colorful balloons giving us all an eastery feel.  With an introduction to the Easter story and an action song on the Easter Bunny from Sameera Fernandes, the air was lled with laughter with happy children swaying to their singing whilst having so much fun.Shortly after, the Easter Bunny treasure hunt commenced with Samantha Pasha ensuring all those who were present had an amazing time. The hunt for eggs of a vast array of colours were hidden in secret places for children to nd. Children had to collect them in Easter baskets and then look forward to little surprises.Soon after, the much-awaited Easter egg coloring competition commenced and and it was a spectacular sight to see brightly colored eggs masterfully designed by our tiny tots. This was followed by the dance session where children danced and swayed to the bunny hop.Another important highlight - the snacks were all centered around the Easter theme – beautifully crafted cupcakes of dierent avors bore tiny colourful Easter eggs. Parents too had their own share of fun and satisfaction to see their children so much immersed into the beautiful spirit of Easter. The parents also had a chance to win a holiday stay courtesy Club Mahindra. Jude Lobo and John Quadrous presented the gift voucher to Deepti Misal, the lucky winner for the evening. The gathering turned out to be an ideal place for adults to sit back and relax while the kids enjoyed the beautiful spirit of Easter.

On 13th April 2019, the iBrowse Sub- Committee had turned the CC Ballroom into a royal Rajasthani palace replete with Bandhni decor, bolsters, puppets, candles and owers! iBrowsers who attended also sportingly dressed in Rajasthani attire added to the ambience and the mood. The event was carefully choreographed by Gavin Cordeiro, our moderator for the evening, in consultation with author Sadiqa Peerbhoy, whose 7th novel, 'Mayurkhund', we were launching that evening. After a wonderful introduction by Rosalind Beck Vieyra, there was a performance of the Ghoomar dance led and choreographed by Deepti. This led into the book discussion which was made all the more eective with the main characters telling their own stories to the audience. Actors Sanidhi & Madhavi deserved the huge applause they received for their soul stirring portrayal of Amari & Zeenath, the two main protagonists of the book, respectively. Gavin then got into a lively and animated discussion with Sadiqa which covered the writing process, the way in which characters were eshed out and the research process, among other things. The audience too got into the swing of things with interesting questions and sales of the book were brisk with Sadiqa obligingly autographing copies.Wonderful Rajasthani snacks of Kachori, Choole Puris, Jalebis and Aam Panna (sourced by Ashu Lobo Desai) left everyone happy and satiated and the colourful glass bangles provided as a takeaway had our iBrowse beaming! Sadiqa was

thrilled with the turnout and event and said that this had been her best book launch ever!---------------------------------May @ IBrowse on Friday 17th May at 6 pm" CAMEOS" The stories around us by Anne Rosemary Martis nee Aranha

Children’s Summer Camp

Our Summer Camp this year had the kids buzzing with excitement and activity all themed around India. Let’s Tour India was a summer camp with games fun and knowl-edge and tons of action packed into 7 days from 1st to 7th April 2019. The theme " Let’s Tour India" captured the essence right from the food, language, costumes culture

festivals and games from the dierent parts of India. How diverse we are in our unity.

Every morning began with a fun game, played in the days gone by, a form of out-door exercise for the children. A much-needed break from their electronic gadgets. Next the children used their beautiful hands to make dierent art forms of India namely paper Mache, coconut shell painting, tie and dye bottle decoup-age terracotta and warli art where thechildren unleased their creativity and ideas.

The food we catered for the children echoed the dierent states of India samosa, dhokla, sheera, rasagolla, jamun, pani puri, poha, jal jeera, lassi and butter milk and the children learnt to make the coolers and pani puri which they thor-oughly savoured.

Every day the camp ended with a video and a quiz showcasing the dierent states of india with prizes given away ensured that each child enjoyed the camp every day as much as we did learning from the kids.

Children’s Easter Egg Hunt Our kids came with their baskets all set to gather their eggs. They joyfully gathered eggs all strewn and even hidden in the courtyard. They then had an egg painting competition and dappled with paints and creativity. The Easter Bunny came by and even did the Bunny hop with the kids. Plenty of games also assured that most went home with prizes. But to top it all our kids pledged to do one good deed after going home that day just to live the Easter Spirit.
