The TPM Pressure Monitoring Device has been designed tomonitor pressure-controlled rooms and comprises a basicunit with the FCCU-T Operator Terminal. As a supplemen-tary option a matching pressure transducer can be suppliedif there is not one, i.e. to provide an independent monitoringfunction.

    The Monitoring includes:

    indication of power supply failure

an visual alarm that cannot be deleted

    an acoustic alarm

    alarm via potential-free contact

The TPM uses the actual value output (analogue signal) of the room pressure differential transducer, that is eitherexisting or is available as a supplementary option.

It provides a visual and acoustic alarm if the requiredpressure is not reached. The acoustic alarm can be sup-pressed via a button on the operator terminal or stops automatically after a period of time that can be set. Thealarm can be passed on via a potential-free contact.

    Basic Unit

The basic unit with the dimensions W x H x L = 110 x 180 x 90 mm contains the control electronics and the connections for the room pressure differentialtransducer, operators terminal and the volt-free contactsfor sending messages to the building management system.

    FCCU-T Operator Terminal

The three LEDs (red, yellow and green), the piezoelectricloudspeaker for the acoustic alarm and the alarm suppressbutton are integrated in the operators terminal.

Meaning of the LED function displays:

Green Pressure OKRed Alarm (falling below required pressure)

Simultaneous acoustic alarm, alarm passed on via relay

    Yellow Required pressure exceeded

The operators terminal should be mounted in a clearlyvisible place in the room, e.g. next to a door.

Schematic Diagram of TPM Functions Description of Function

The TPM monitoring device is used to visualise and monitor the room pressure. For this purpose the pressure-linear analogue output signal of a pressure trans-ducer is connected. This transducer usually simultaneouslyacts as an actual value sensor for room control. In especial-ly sensitive areas the use of an additional separate pressuretransmitter (recording of independent measured values) is recommended. All standard diaphragm pressure trans-ducers (possibly with a digital display) can be used becausethe TPM can be programmed accordingly.

The actual value is recorded permanently and compared to the set value. If the required pressure is exceeded in thesafe direction, a yellow LED on the operator terminalindicates the deviation. In the case of deviations in theunsafe direction, in other words against neutral pressure(0 Pa), the red alarm LED lights up. In addition, an acousticsignal sounds. This signal stops after a period that can be pre-set or after the suppress button on the operatorterminal has been pressed. The red alarm LED lights upuntil the pressure conditions once again comply with theset value.

The TPM monitoring device allows pressure reversalswitching with an external normally open contact. Then, for example, it is possible to switch from a pressure to bemonitored to 20 Pa to + 20 Pa.

An alarm contact (changeover contact) is available to passon the alarm message to the building management system.

Computer Connection to TPM Commissioning the TPM

The system is commissioned via the serial RS232 interfaceof a standard PC with a terminal program, such as Hyper-terminal, which is in the scope of supply of Windows.

The terminal cable needed with a connecting plug toconnect the RS232 interface is available separately.Detailed instructions for downloading the parameters are also supplied.

    Basic requirements for commissioning are:

    PC (laptop) with serial interface

The TPM must be correctly connected

The power supply must be ensured
