Cap Maison wine list principles

Interesting Natural and biodynamic wines that are made in small quantities by families and

small wineries that share our passion for putting smiles on people’s faces.

Wines that you generally won’t find in your local wine merchant, supermarket or

restaurant and that are all really delicious.

Wines at the top end that we have decided to put on a small cash margin and are

consequently priced very sensibly, in some cases up to 50% less than you might find on a

list elsewhere.

And we hope to welcome you soon for a fun, learning and inspiring wine tasting session at

Cellar Maison…

Orange Wines (made from white grapes )

Have you ever wondered why in old master paintings the white wines in people’s glasses don’t look

as translucent as the whites of today, and why they look more orange than anything else? This isn’t

a trick of the light or the patina of age, but perhaps because the Michelangelos of this world actually

drank orange wines. – quoted from Natural Wine, Isabelle Legeron MW

North-East Italy

515 Ribolla Gialla, Radikon, Venezia Giulia 2007

This unique “back to its roots” orange wine was macerated and fermented

with its grape skins and pips where more flavors were extracted, mainly

tannins but also a distinctive bright yellow colour, or even shades of rust is

the result.

We recommend enjoying some of these rather special wines to be paired with food. Our

Chefs Table Menu would be great way exploring this intriguing world on natural wines.

Wine by the Glass Program

We have tried to seek out some interesting wines, which you may not have tried before, and please

be aware that all wine from our list can be served “by the glass”. – simply purchase any bottle from

the list, enjoy a glass (or two!), and we can preserve the remainder of your wine to be enjoyed again

later, wherever you may choose to dine.

“I only drink champagne when I’m happy and when I’m sad.

Sometimes I drink when I’m alone

When I have company I consider it obligatory.

I triffle with it if I’m not in a hurry and I drink it when I am, otherwise I never touch the

stuff unless I am thirsty” – Madame Lily Bollinger
