It is estimated that over half of American adults do not have an estate plan. No matter whether your estate is large or modest, a good estate plan is essential. In the short term, an estate plan helps you to achieve peace of mind and to protect against risk. In the long term, an estate plan allows you to give instructions for how you

want your financial affairs and healthcare decisions to be handled when you are no longer able to handle those matters yourself.

A good estate plan accomplishes important fundamental goals. When considering what is important to you in an estate plan, it is useful to start with these goals in mind:

1. Maintain control of my property while I am alive and well.2. Provide for myself and my loved ones if I become disabled.3. Give what I have... to whom I want, the way I want & when I want.4. Minimize the impact of professional fees, court costs and taxes.

A good estate plan is as individual as you are. As with most things in life, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for estate planning. Rather, a combination of estate planning tools are available to fit your needs. Depending on your unique goals, these tools may include:

• Last will and testament• Revocable living trust• Durable power of attorney• Healthcare power of attorney• Advance care directive

A good estate plan will be carried out efficiently and effectively. As a trust officer, we often help to implement these estate planning tools by serving as trustee, personal representative or agent. In these roles, we act as a professional, neutral third-party to carry out your plan according to your instructions.

If you would like more information on how we can help implement your plan, please feel welcome to contact our Wealth Management Team at (608) 826-3570. We look forward to hearing from you!

fallen for the charms of handsome noble Viscount Raoul De Chagny, not realizing her Angel of Music is deeply in love with her. Insane with jealousy and unable to see the object of his affection, and ultimately his obsession, in the arms of another man, The Phantom kidnaps Christine - unaware of the lengths Raoul is prepared to go to get her back.

We will enjoy a delicious lunch in the Grand Ballroom of the Edgewater Hotel, served with a special kind of hospitality, a thoughtfulness and caring courtesy that comes from the heart.

The Edgewater first opened its doors in Madison on the shores of Lake Mendota in the 1940s, and quickly became recognized as a prominent part of the community—the venue of choice for the city’s politicians, university faculty, businessmen, and their families. The Edgewater has hosted many celebrities, including Elvis Presley, Elton John, Bob Marley, Sammy Davis Jr. as well as the Dalai Lama and many other dignitaries.

The Edgewater reopened its doors in August 2014 with the addition of a beautiful new tower and the complete remodeling of the two existing buildings.

Price includes Badger Coach Transportation, dinner at Edgewater Hotel Restaurant, orchestra seating starting in the 3rd row for Phantom of the Opera at the Overture Center and driver gratuities.

Please note that the show starts at 2:00 p.m., Cost: $172 per member. Please add $25.00 per person for non-members.

To RSVP, please send completed sign-up form (included in this newsletter) and payment before Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Please contact Lois Boehnen if you have any questions at 608-767-4752 or [email protected]

Estate Planning – Fundamental Goals & Tools

Brown Family is well received! We were thrilled that 1100 Prime Time members joined us for our two Member Appreciation Concerts on Wednesday, August 24th in Middleton. This year our entertainment was The Brown Family from LeMars, Iowa. Shelley Brown and her children Adam, Andrew and Machaela, entertained us with humor, nostalgia and just down-home good Branson Style music! Our group loved getting to know this warm, loving farm family, who are sharing their many talents across the US. From Canon in D on the fiddle, to patriotic medleys, they kept our audience captive for the entire show.

Our management team was on hand to greet our guests, and President Jim Tubbs officially welcomed everyone and thanked them for their business. We couldn’t pull off these events without help from our staff, both inside and outside of the office and our advisory board members. Many thanks to our Retiring Advisory Board members, Dave & Jean Kollasch, Tom & Carla Lauber, Pat & Georg Bunders, Eunice Schmitz & Jeanne Epping and new members Gordy and Jean Acker, Dick and Peg Saeman and Roy and Lola Bieri.

If you weren’t able to join us this year, we hope you’ll keep an eye out for this event next year. It’s just one of the many ways we try to show our appreciation to all our members for the business you bring to our bank.

Christmas Show “An Unexpected Gift”Memories Dinner Theatre, Port Washington, WI – Sunday, December 18th, 2016 – Matinee PerformanceHoliday Musical by Rolland Roebuck

Kenya Wing Safari TourThursday, February 9 –Sunday, February 19th, 2017.

Christmas and family...words which evoke powerful emotions in most people. For The Buerkle Family, those two words result in: joy, sorrow, anger and love... a mixture only slightly less explosive than TNT.

Join this family, as they assemble for their family holiday gathering; each of them carrying their own set of baggage; each of them needing the unconditional love and support from the others, to lighten the load of that baggage. When good ol’ Wisconsin winter weather causes them to lose power, yuletide festivities seem to go “down the drain”, as they lose plumbing, lights and all of the usual comforts of home. Resorting to warmth from the fireplace, illumination through candles and answering the call of

Mother Nature via the old outhouse out back, the gap between the generations is

narrowed. Life, if for just a short time, becomes a little simpler; and The Buerkle’s are reminded of the wonderful gift they have had all of the time. . . Family.

With an engaging story line driven through song, audiences will instantly recognize many of their most beloved Christmas carols, while also getting a chuckle at the clever variations of other holiday favorites. In this original script, written by

Memories’ own owner, Rolland Roebuck, we find the essence of the “Family Christmas”, with its bickering, love, fear and strength. Through this funny, yet touching musical production, perhaps you will find a little of

your own family and find yourself chuckling at yourself. . . and yearning to embrace the ones you proudly call your family.

Join us for a delicious plated meal of beef tips in a wine sauce, buttered noodles, steamed vegetable blend, memories’ Famous Fluff, salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing, warm dinner rolls and cherry pretzel torte for dessert. Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by a heart-warming holiday matinee performance at 1:45 p.m.

Price includes: Show ticket, delicious plated dinner, deluxe motor coach transportation and tip for driver.

Cost is $99.00 per member and $114.00 per non-member

WE HAVE JUST A FEW SPOTS LEFT - So please contact Lois Boehnen: 608-767-4752 [email protected] to check on availability.

All reservations will be taken in time and date order they are received.

Join us to embark on the trip of a lifetime on a Kenyan Wing Safari! February 9 – 19, 2017. Safari which means “journey” in Swahili, is an experience you’ll never forget and we have worked to ensure every detail has been arranged to perfection. Not all Safari programs are created equally, and this 5 Star program is unlike anything you have experienced. There are many things that affect the quality and cost of a Kenyan Safari. Come find out why this TRIPS Kenya Wing Safari will exceed your expectations. From the moment you land and exit customs, you’ll be cared for, and about in ways you never expected. Your TRIPS Safari Director and Team will greet you and you’ll be assisted with your transfer to your five-star Nairobi Hotel. Over the course of this tour, as you travel from the northern reaches of the Aberdare National Forest to the world famous Maasai Mara in Southern Kenya, you’ll find the people to be warm and friendly and the animals beyond imagination!

You’ll be greeted with a heartfelt Jambo as you travel throughout the county, and you’ll soon be returning the greeting smiling just as broadly as the Kenyan’s you come in contact with. Countless TRIPS travelers (including 20 of our Prime Time members who went in 2009) return home commenting that their Kenya Wing Safari changed them in such unexpected ways. Surely, a major draw is seeing elephant, lion, cheetah and giraffe in the wild. What few imagine is how the people of Kenya have touched them, from the school girls you meet and women who create beautiful wool rugs to your safari guide who is the best in business! It is the people of this Magical Land that enchant and entice so many to return!

We already have over 20 travelers signed up and our deadline is approaching quickly. Contact us by October 20th to make sure

that we can get all of your documents in order to reserve your space, and to learn more about this amazing tour where you will experience the unexpected during this five-star Kenya Wing Safari tour.

Trip Recap

So Where Did We End Up On Our 2016 Mystery Tour?Dubuque, IA - 2 Days: August 17-18, 2016 Day One: Our first stop was the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum & Aquarium’s riverfront campus is the only interpretive center for the entire Mississippi River. The Museum is an informative, entertaining journey on the Mighty Mississippi with dynamic aquariums, historical exhibits, and a stroll through the wetlands and boatyard. The Museum’s goal is to tell the stories of America’s river people and preserve our nation’s river history. The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is where you can explore the Mighty Mississippi and the rivers of America at one site!

Next we took a short walk to the dock of the Spirit of Dubuque, climbed aboard The SPIRIT, a replica of a century-old Mississippi River steamboat. We enjoyed a deli style lunch in the enclosed dining salon and musical entertainment on a boat with decorative smokestacks, a scalloped canopy over an open-air deck, and beautiful Victorian décor.

Then, off we were to discover the History of Dubuque with a local guide, stopping at scenic Eagle Point Park, which overlooks the Mississippi River at Lock & Dam #11.

Before heading to our hotel to freshen up and enjoy dinner, we visited St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, which houses a splendid collection of Tiffany stained glass windows designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Of all of the windows in the church, the Good Shepherd window was created for the Columbia Exposition in 1893, and Tiffany is said to have considered it his finest creation in glass. Jesus is

pictured against a background of many hues of green, while his face and figures of several sheep glow with soft light. The Good Samaritan window, installed in 1916, is another masterpiece, created with deep purple and lavender shades. Our guide pointed out the differences between a Tiffany window and one by a lesser artist that was installed in the back of the church. Compared side by side, the two windows have striking differences, making it easy to see why the many layers of color that make up Tiffany creations are so highly prized.

We also, took a ride up The Fenelon Place Elevator. It is a 3 foot narrow gauge funicular railway and is also known as the Fourth Street Elevator, it is claimed to be the shortest and steepest railroad in the world. The elevator was first built in 1882 for the private use of local banker and former state senator J.K. Graves so that he would have a quick way to get to the top of the bluff for his 1 ½ hour lunch.

At the top there are two observation

decks, which offer a commanding view of the downtown Dubuque area. The states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin can all be

seen from the observation decks. The two cars start at opposite ends, passing each other at the midpoint of the elevator.

We enjoyed dinner in the beautiful Grand Ballroom of Hotel Julien. This hotel is

an elegant boutique hotel that marries modern amenities with historic charm and is located in the heart of the Old Main District.

To complete our day, we enjoyed reserved seating at the Bell Tower Theater for a performance of “Assisted Living the Musical.” Everything your Granny told you

about assisted living? Forget it! From early retirement right up to the pulling of the plug, 21st Century seniors are partying like it’s 1969. Imagine: no work, no pregnancy and a full array of Medicare-subsidized pharmaceuticals. They are partying at Pelican Roost, the full-service retirement community that is home to the 18 different characters played by the show’s two actors. Assisted Living: The Musical® is not just for old people anymore than Oklahoma! is just for cowboys, Gypsy is for Romanians, or Rent is for people who don’t own their own homes. Assisted Living: The Musical® was for everyone, since all of us are aging, or hopes to do so someday.

Day Two: After a Breakfast Buffet we were off to see what else Dubuque had to offer. At Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey, Sister Christine, who had an awesome dry sense of humor, did a short presentation on the lifestyle of the Sisters of the Abbey. Afterward, we had a chance to purchase the delicious homemade caramels and other candies the sisters make to support themselves.

Chairman’s Message:When you get this letter, I am sure that the weather will be different from what it was at the time I wrote it. This is Wisconsin after all. The irony is that the June letter was also written with recent heavy rains, and today from the last 24 hours, my rain gauge says about 3 inches. This Labor Day weekend and just before the Badger vs. LSU game, I spoke to 4 LSU fans in a restaurant who wondered if they could take back the beautiful weather we were having

then to Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge had just undergone upwards of 30 inches of rain from Hermine. We should count our blessings. I might add that most

of their fans could not

forecast the tropical depression they would endure in their loss to our Badgers. For me it was a brilliant sunny day.

In Waunakee, on our way back from Labor Day travels, Barb and I decided it would be a good idea to stop at the local Culver’s for dinner. There as we reached for the door handle was the Prime Time Merchant Discount emblem. It was a bit of a reminder to me of all the value added aspects that are a part of our Prime Time program. Lois tells me we are at the point of again setting up merchants to prepare for next year’s program. That’s value added to both our Prime Time members and our merchant customers. Our series of seminars offered in conjunction with our wealth management and financial advisory teams, have been very well attended. People find value from Prime Time to better understand Social Security Supplemental Insurance, Health Care options and Long Term Care policies. Traveling with Prime Time adds value to our customer relationships in

another important way. Talking to one of our frequent travelers in our Bank lobby recently, I heard enthusiastic praise for our memory making travel adventures. For the Bank, our Prime Time program, provides us a stage to say “thank you” to our VIP Prime Time customers with events like our Customer Appreciation concert featuring the Brown family at the Middleton PAC. Hopefully, we are exceeding expectations for 2016 with the activities of our club.

What’s past of course is past, just like the weather. So with that thought I invite you to let us know how we are doing. Please share with us and especially Lois any thoughts you may have on ways Prime Time can add even more value to your life. Enjoy the Fall, whatever the weather!

Sincerely,

Chairman, State Bank and SBCP Bancorp

We then went on a tour of the Trappist Casket Manufacturing plant and we learned about the work of the monks of New Melleray Abbey in Dubuque, IA. Trappist Caskets have been making caskets since 1849. The same old world craftsmanship and sense of sacred ministry, which constructed their stone buildings and has helped maintain their quiet life of constant prayer, work and simplicity has gone into every Trappist casket. Their caskets are made from as much wood as they can responsibly harvest from their own, carefully managed forest, obtaining the rest from like-minded sources. As part of this sacred ministry, they plant a tree as a living memorial to each person who is buried in a Trappist Casket.

After our morning ended, we were off to Iowa’s oldest bar & restaurant in Balltown, Iowa for a delicious homemade lunch at

Breitbach’s Country Dining. Breitbach’s makes everything fresh from scratch. Delicious homemade soups, salads and

pies are prepared daily by Mike and Cindy and their staff. Home style cooking led Breitbach’s Country Dining to receive the highest award a restaurant can receive, and this is the award from the James Beard Foundation. Breitbach’s Country Dining received the “American Classics” award even though their restaurant had burned to the ground, on December 24, 2007, Mike

and Cindy, two of their children and two employees flew to New York City to receive their award on May 4th, 2008.

We completed our mystery tour with a stop at the PromiseLand Winery for sampling and shopping. PromiseLand Winery is a family-run operation, located in the southern hills of Guttenberg, IA, on the Great River Road.

Our driver’s Dennis and Shawn then took us home through Prairie du Chien on a beautiful Wisconsin Summer afternoon to wrap up our tour.

Last year we were to hell and back, this year it was coffins and the Promise Land. Let’s see, so what are you looking for in a mystery tour? History? Science? A culinary delight? Something educational or spiritual? Maybe entertaining enough to almost be criminal? That’s what we try to do, so hopefully we found something that each of our travelers enjoyed. We hope you’ll join us next year!

Director’s Message Lois Boehnen – Club DirectorWhew! What a summer! We’ve had so much fun getting together with so many of you dear friends this summer. We’ve enjoyed a

little bit of everything: the Brewers, a Mystery Tour

to Dubuque, IA, an African Slide Show, American Players Theater, Health Care Supplement Insurance Seminar and two amazing concerts

featuring The Brown Family. I just did

a quick tally to find that we’ve seen 1,374 of

our members in the last month and a half. It’s going to seem strange in October when I need to work on our merchant program and plan our event schedule for 2017.

In this letter I try to keep you abreast of what’s going on with Prime Time. I am excited to announce that Carla Poast, who so many of you already know and love, has agreed to take on the role of Prime Time Advisor for Verona. We also have a great addition to our group hailing from our Madison office, Joan Perri. Although, Joan is new to our bank, her caring personality makes her a perfect fit for our Advisor role.

It is with great sadness, that I inform you that Carole Radtke has decided to retire from

being our Middleton Office Advisor. Carole joined us as an advisor in 2006 and has done an amazing job for us. I know I speak for all of you in saying that Carole’s sweet, kind personality was always very much enjoyed by our members. Please join me in thanking Carole for 10 great years! Our new Middleton Advisor is no stranger, Tonia Gilbertson, a 15 year State Bank veteran has accepted this role and will do a great job for us as well. Please join me in welcoming our new advisors to our Prime Time team!

I will soon be planning for next year. Let me know if there are things you’d like to do or learn more about. It is a privilege for me to help make your someday’s come true.
