Principal’s Message: We recognize that educating our children is a partner-

ship involving community, parents and staff. Therefore,

for students to be successful, continued open and

honest communication is necessary. I hope that all of

you are checking our website as it will have important

school dates and information for the classroom. Each

class has a google calendar for our students to check

for homework, and the calendar is updated regularly.

PowerSchool is also a method of staying informed

about school and your child’s education. Parent-

Teacher Conferences will be in October, and your

child’s teachers look forward to chatting with you about

your child’s year so far. Remember you can touch

base with your child’s teacher any time; their emails

are on our website or PowerSchool.

Our Terry Fox run was a huge success! After a rain

out day we enjoyed beautiful weather for our Terry Fox

run day. Thanks so much for the volunteer hours that

went into concession, set-up and take down. Our stu-

dents are lucky to have such a lovely trail to run.

On a personal note, thank you to all of you who have

already made a point to welcome me to the communi-

ty. As a new administrator I have much to learn about

the school and the community and I look forward to the

journey. If you have any questions or concerns, please

do not hesitate to contact us directly and we will get

back to you in a timely fashion. Looking forward to a

fun and successful school year!

PowerSchool Parent Portal

The Parent Portal lets parents (and students)

access marks and attendance for their children

in Sturgeon School Division. When teachers

enter marks into their PowerSchool

Gradebook, the marks will automatically show

up in the Parent Portal.

This provides an excellent way to follow your

child’s progress. Any questions or concerns as

to how to access Parent Portal,

please contact Ms. Patel at the

school office or drop by for a one-on

-one session.

Lunch Time

A closed campus exists to assist the school in ensuring a safe and caring environment.

Students are not allowed off school premises unless a parent contacts the school via

phone/note to have the student attend an appointment or be involved in a specific activity.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact Mrs.

Kristine Wilkinson, Principal, or Mr. Iain Jamieson, Vice Principal.

Severe Nut Allergies

We have students who have severe allergic reactions to nuts. If exposed to nuts, their re-

action may place them in a life-threatening situation. In providing as safe an environment

as possible, we encourage our students to not share their food with others. If students are

bringing treats for others, we ask that they be free of nut products. Your assistance in lim-

iting these products being brought into the school is appreciated. We would also ask par-

ents/guardians to inform the school if their child(ren) have any life threatening allergies so

that we may better protect your children’s health. Please contact the school office at (780)

923-2240.

Absentee Check

If your child will be absent for the day please contact the school as soon as possible at

780-923-2240. Absentee checks will be done each morning, and calls will be made to

verify attendance for those students marked absent.
