PARENTS AND FRIENDS NEWS CHOCOLATE DRIVE So far we have raised $2623.00 from the chocolate drive. We are still waiting for a few late payments be-fore we can provide the final figure. TERM 4 We will be very busy at the beginning of term 4 getting ready for our School Fair on the 22nd November. Holidays are often a good time to have a tidy and clean up. We are looking for donations of clean second hand toys and books for two of our stalls at the fair. You might also find some gifts that you have been given that you have never used or will never use like toilet-ries, electrical goods, crockery and the list goes on. We can recycle these on the silent auction table. We will be gratefully accepting donations from the first week back in term 4.

We hope that all of our fabulous families have a happy and safe holiday.

School uniform As term 3 draws to an end, we provide a friendly reminder to parents to please check their children’s school clothing to ensure that they have their own items. With jumpers often coming off during the day, it is easy for these items to get mixed up. Please also take the opportunity to check our lost property table to pick up any misplaced items of clothing.

Crazy Hair Day Update

Suzie Knevitt would love to thank Mrs Sheridan, Miss Lierich and the (junior) school committee for organising this year’s Crazy Hair Day to help assist her with her recent head shave & to raise money for the Oncology Ward at the Geelong Hospital. The day, which was held on August 2nd, was a huge success with a total of $496 raised! Suzie is very grateful for this wonderful donation and also to all the kids , families and teachers supporting her during this exciting and bold deed. Also, a special thanks to Mr. Waldron for getting into the act of shaving his head on the day—making it fun and entertaining for all the kids to see. Suzie is very excited and pleased to announce that an overall ‘grand total’ of $3,896.00 was raised from her head shave!! Suzie and the Oncology Ward are absolutely thrilled and very grateful for this amazing amount donated by her many family and friends during this event. This donation will greatly assist with providing new facilities and services as well as care & support for all the staff, specialists & and those living with cancer in the future. Thank you all once again—it is very appreciated. Suzie, Mitch and Chloe Knevitt.

With school holidays quickly approaching you may be stuck for ideas for keeping children entertained.

Why not have some fun with your kids in the kitchen these school holidays and try these great easy

lamingtons!

This recipe is nut free

Ingredients

1 bought Victoria sponge cake

1/3 cup of raspberry jam

2 cups of icing sugar

1/4 cup of coco powder

3 cups of desiccated or shredded coconut

Method

1. Cut each half of the sponge cake in half hori-

zontally. Spread the jam on two of the halves and top with the remaining halves.

2. Cut each sponge into 8 pieces.

3. Sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl. Add enough warm water to form a runny icing.

4. Place the coconut into a large mixing bowl.

5. Dip each cake portion in the icing to coat each side. This can be a messy

business, call in the kids and keep your hands nice and clean!

6. Roll each piece of cake in the coconut and place on a wire rack for 30

minutes to dry.

Helpful Hints

If you can’t find Victoria sponge a slab sponge is fine to make squares or rectan-

gles.

Its easier to coat the lamingtons if the icing is runny. If you wanted a thicker icing

spread the icing on with a knife– this can be slightly more time consuming.
