What you will need

1 celery heart1 runner bean1 apple1 pepper1A3 sheet of sugar paper1Paint in all of your favourite colours1Paper plates1 kitchen knifeA piece of string

.Step 1

Find a flat surface to work on and gather together all the craft materials you need to make a vegetable printing picture. Squirt each of your chosen paint colours onto paper plates.

Step 2Vegetable printing using celeryCelery can be used to make pretty rose-like

flower prints. Trim the celery stalks down just past the leaves using a kitchen knife. Tie the celery stalks up together tightly with a piece of string, dip it into the paint (we used red and pink paint) then press down firmly onto some paper for the flowers.

Step 3Vegetable printing using runner beansUsing a kitchen knife, split the runner bean

and remove the beans. Dip the inner side of the runner bean into the paint (we used green paint) then press it down firmly just under the flowers to make a textured stem-like print.

Step 4Vegetable printing using peppersWe used peppers in our it down firmly onto some paper. Build up more pepper prints around the first one to make

the leaves of a tree. vegetable-printing picture to make the leaves of a tree.

Cut the pepper in half, dip it into the paint (we used green paint) then press

Step 5Apple printing...Add butterflies to your vegetable-printing picture

using apples.Cut an apple in half and dip it into the paint (we used yellow and blue paint) then press it down firmly onto some paper for a print that looks like a butterfly.

Step 6

Leave the butterfly apple prints to dry, then using a brown or black felt pen, draw on the butterflies 'bodies and antenna

Step 7Finish the vegetable-printing picture off by

making the tree trunk using a single celery stalk dipped into some brown paint and print lots of semi-circles under the leaves of the tree. You could also use the side of a celery stalk dipped into some green paint to make grass-like prints.

Step 8Leave your vegetable painting picture to dry and

that's it! Your pretty picture using celery, runner beans, peppers and apples is ready to hang up.

Vegetable printing is a simple art that even small children can try out.  You  need only some vegetables, a piece of cloth and fabric paints to make the print.  Vegetables can be cut lengthwise or breadth wise to make beautiful patterns of flowers, leaves, etc. according to your ideas. Here is an example for you.

Take one capsicum and cut it into two pieces.

. Apply fabric paint of your choice carefully on the brim of the capsicum piece. Take care not to smudge.

Punch the painted capsicum on the cloth to make petals of a flower.

Cut the ladies finger lengthwise to make leaves and breadth wise to make small flower designs.
