Glass Delamination• Phenomenon which occurs when top layers of a glass surface flake off,

due to breakdown of the glass surface.

• Largely caused by the interactions between the glass surface and the liquid that it contains

• Oxides leach out of the glass surface, which creates a less resistant layer.

• Formation of flakes, which slough off into solution

• Manufacturing defects already present in the vials can also be a catalyst of delamination
