Product data sheet Autotex ® Softouch™ (ST) is a specially textured PET* film from MacDermid Autotype, developed to offer a tactile, soft-to-touch finish. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The surface has been developed to deliver a very fine, flat matt finish which in combination with new coating chemistry produces a unique soft-to-touch feel to satisfy today’s ever changing design concepts. This has been achieved whilst maintaining formability, flexibility, chemical and abrasion resistance. The new matt finish is compatible with Windotex TM and can produce excellent clarity display windows, whilst the surface chemistry minimises dust contamination compared to some other soft touch finishes. Autotex ® Softouch can be supplied in roll or sheet format. * The term polyester is the generic term for a number of different polymers, of which polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is the most common. PET is used in MacDermid Autotype Industrial Polyester film products. Product Range: Autotex ® Softouch ST150L 150μ ST200L 200μ Primer: Autotex ® Softouch™ has an ink adhesion primer on the second surface. The primer confers excellent adhesion to a wide range of solvent based graphic inks. If printing very dark colours in blocks please be aware that the flat matt finish on Autotex ® Softouch™ can soften the finished colour. For a list of the recommended inks please refer to the Autotex ® Printing Recommendations data sheet. A protective laminate is applied to the primer surface and should be removed before printing. Formability: Autotex ® Softouch™ is suitable for parts that require embossing or have a shallow formed design. Please refer to the Embossing Recommendations Data Sheet. Windowing: Autotex ® Softouch offers a unique textured surface which is compatible with Windotex™ windowing lacquers. Please refer to Windotex™ Processing & Safety Recommendations Data Sheet. Please note for Autotex ® Softouch window printing must occur within 24 hours of the film being exposed to the atmosphere. Outdoor Use: In common with most other plastics, Autotex® Softouch™ has limited long term resistance to UV light and therefore is not recommended for long term use outdoors. Edge Quality After Cutting: Due to its elastomeric nature, the softouch coating is most susceptible to damage at a cut edge. This can be minimised by the use of sharp blades and good cutting technique. PRODUCT APPLICATIONS Autotex® Softouch™ is used as a substrate in the following applications: • Membrane switch overlays • Fascia panels • Nameplates • Labels/Product marking Major Benefits: • Consistent cosmetic tactile finish across the whole surface • Excellent abrasion and scratch resistance • Compatible with WindotexTM to produce excellent high clarity printed windows • Chemical and household cleaner resistance even at the edges • Embossable with superior flex life • Compatible with solvent screen inks, many UV curing ink jet printers and vacuum

metalising Autotex® Softouch™ has been developed to provide a unique tactile experience for the user. For applications where extreme durability is the key requirement we recommend Autotex® Fine, Velvet or Steel CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
