Off to the new cell! With the optio-nally available parameter setting and evaluation soft-ware SSLL--SSOOFFTT you can copy complete parameter setsand single line diagrams from a PC to the CSP or viceversa. This way you simply load new single line dia-grams with the relevant interlocking logic into yourSSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNE unit. For customer-specific requirements, individual functions can be generated by an internalprogrammable logic function called SL-LOGIC.
Measuring, Evaluation, Diag-nosis: SSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEE devices record electrical valuessuch as current, voltage, power, etc. But they also offeryou numerous statistical and counting functions. Forhow many operating hours have your switchboardsbeen running? How many switching cycles do yourswitching devices have? Energy metering, mean andmaximum values? The answer is only a few »clicks«away.
And after a fault event? Every-thing will be recorded by your SSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEE.. You alsohave enough time to analyse a fault, even if it is only
a matter of milliseconds. And if you want to knowwhat events preceded the fault, the fault recorder willprovide the answer. If that is not enough for you, youcan simply carry out another analysis of the faultrecords via PC and copy this as a file. You can applythe same principle to take current flows over intoyour MS Office application or to zoom them into rele-vant time ranges. All this is made possible by the»Data Recorder«, a powerful software tool which pro-vides you, visually and graphically, with valuableinformation and contributes to reducing costs withinyour company.
Standardised communicationis a further highlight of SEG’s SSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEE. Regard-less of whether you use process visualisation, via sta-tion SCADA systems, or building automation or ener-gy management systems, it´s no problem! You canskillfully link your medium-voltage switchboard toother systems via IEC870-5-103, PROFIBUS DP orMODBUS RTU using a standardised interface. Thiscombined protection and control system integratesand helps to save costs because you do not require
any expensive individual solutions. In addition, due totheir great flexibility, the devices can be integratedstep-by-step into existing or planned electrical energydistribution systems.
Any further benefits required?Control and operating comfort of the SSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEEare unbeatable. If, for example, you have to changethe parameters of some panels of your switchboard,SEG technology will offer you all the advantages ourdigital era can offer. It is up to you whether you wishto set the parameters of the respective panels locallyor adjust the parameters of other panels via the ope-rating unit of one panel. Or you can link the opera-ting unit CMP to your notebook via a serial cable andcarry out changes by means of the keyboard. Theinternal bus allows central evaluation of up to 16devices.

From where do you want tocontrol? It´s up to you whether you chooselocal control via the separate operating unit CMP, orremote control via a digital input or via SCADASystem. SEG SSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEE will control almost allcommonly available medium-voltage switchgears. Of
course, the devices take into account the panel andsystem inter-locking functions. All operating or faultmessages are given a time stamp with date andtime. You may rest assured - nothing will happenwithout you knowing about it.
PPrrootteeccttiioonn?? -- AAllll iinncclluussiivvee!! The feeder protectionalready includes 18 protective functions. All you needto do is to activate them. Even with the line andtransformer differential protection all back-up protec-tion functions are already on board.
Compact, universal, flexible. The compactly designed protection and controlsystem fits into the smallest low-voltage niches and, thanks to its flexible field configurations, can beinstalled in all common switchboards irrespective ofthe manufacturer. But flexibility also means:
a wide range power supply and universal in- and outputs, the current transformer inputs are designed forboth 1 A or 5 A,you switch over between four different protective parameter sets.

COMPETENCE IN:
FEEDER PROTECTION, LINE, TRANSFORMER AND BUS-BAR DIFFERENTIAL PROTECTION
given to just one or both or none of the circuit brea-kers. Also the transformer protection is able to con-trol up to 5 switching devices including power out-puts or two circuit breakers.
Busbar protectionAt long last, an affordable bus-bar protection for me-dium-voltage range applications. And this is what
Supply? Coupling?Transformer feeder? ... ... the CSP-F will manage all relevant protection andcontrol tasks. The CSP-F has not only stood the testas a flexible standard solution in new switchboards, but is also highly suited for retrofitting old switchbo-ards. All inclusive - everything without extra charge, without expensive additional modules.
With comfort and menu-guidance you can activatenew device and protection functions with the tip ofyour finger - also later on in the switchboard.
Line protectionDo you require more than fast, selective line differen-tial protection? In addition to complete line protec-tion the CSP-L offers measuring and control functions
as well as integrated backup protection. Since com-munication between the devices occurs via fibre opticconductors, data transmission is not only especiallyfast, but also extremely safe.
Transformer protectionWith this high performance management system, two winding transformers can be protected and ope-rated completely. In order to cover and satisfy different trip philoso-phies, SEG has designed the CSP2-T in such a way, that it provides various trip characteristics relating totrip commands, and therefore commands can be

Arrangements as required. No matter whether you wish to protect grids, genera-tors, transformers or engines, the SEG relays withtheir modular structure and thousand-fold applicationswill stand up to any task. And it does not matterwhether you wish to use individual or combinationrelays.
Numerous additional func-tions have already been integrated into theserelays and additionally offers you, among other func-tions, fault analysis and flexible adaptation to chan-ging operating conditions. The integrated communica-tion interface provides the linkage to the higher-levelSCADA System. The additional SEG software makesparameter setting of the relays and fault analysismuch easier.
The HHIIGGHH TTEECCHH LLIINNEE has meanwhile progressed tothe third generation with a high degree of perfectionfor applications such as time overcurrent protection, mains decoupling and motor protection. Furthermoreit also offers further useful functions such as:
display of date and time, two parameter sets, disturbance recorder, fault value memory, free configuration of the output relays (matrix),
CB failure protection, display of primary values, triggering of the disturbance recorder by a digitalinput andModbus RTU protocol.
Complex protection functions are the special features of these de-vices for low, medium and high-voltage applications. This well-proven, con-tinuously developing line covers everything from basic over-current time pro-tection via machine protection right down to high-quality differential pro-tection.
The intuitive operation of the HHIIGGHHTTEECCHH LLIINNEE relays deserves five stars for comfort. Thanks to its functional design, five keys, LEDs andalpha-numerical displays, it offers you a lot of flexibilityin a minimum space. The simple operating surfacecombines functionality with comfort, with the integra-ted four-digit display serving as a clear text display formeasured, fault and adjustment values. The LEDs guideyou intuitively through the adjustment process or signalthe actual status of the relay. The SEG micro-processortechnology and the highly integrated electronics, whichguarantee top precision and reliability, will be as effi-cient as your speed of acquiring operating and parame-ter setting skills. Sophisticated solutions are, for exam-ple, offered by the double functions of theSELECT/RESET button. It allows you to call up allmeasured and adjustment values one after the otherand to acknowledge fault signals. This is possibleeven when the housing lid is closed or sealed.
Fast fault detection. If a protectivefunction is triggered, the display level changes to thetrigger level. Here the measured values at themoment of triggering can be seen, which makes faultdiagnosis simpler.
The compact housing techno-logy is the result of the 19"-compatible rack-mounting feature consistently used for rack installati-on. But we also offer you separate housings for flushmounting.
Compact und functional. Just asthe HHIIGGHH TTEECCHH LLIINNEE functions are so numerous, so isthe design of this series compact. You get precision ina minimum of space. All units are designed for modu-lar housing structures, based on 19" systems. Eachrelay is of plug-type design and therefore suited forfront installation or mounting on a mounting plate.
The HHIIGGHH TTEECCHH LLIINNEE with its extensive protection func-tions, numerous additional functions, the intuitiveoperation and the compact housing design guaran-tees High Tech Protection everywhere where power isgenerated, converted or distributed.

Easy adjustment. DIP switches andpotentiometers enable you to adjust the protectivefunctions and tripping values quickly and safely. Ifyou prefer to use a PC or a Notebook for this pur-pose, we offer you - as an option - an interface adap-ter plus the appropriate software. Active protectionagainst changes in the settings is ensured by frontcovers that can be sealed and through adjustmentsusing the software.
Compact design. The PPRROOFFEESSSSIIOONNAALLLLIINNEE protection relays are in many ways unique onthe market. For example, the standard DIN rail-moun-ted housings allow fast installation at an optimumcost. They have LV and MV practice-oriented termi-nals which are easily accessible and are suited foreasy installation on DIN rails. They have a terminalcross section which is especially designed for the
connected C.T.s so that they are first choice for thosewho are not obliged to use door installation.
Variety of applications. SEG - PPRROO--FFEESSSSIIOONNAALL LLIINNEE devices not only prove themselves inthe most varied stationary applications - such as intype-tested energy supply systems - but also in mobi-le applications: in construction site systems, containersystems, in supply systems for trains and for themost varied maritime applications, they are GL certi-fied. SEG units fulfil the most stringent testing condi-tions. They are resistant to vibration and climate, andfulfil all requirements of IEC 60255.

Especially important too, therelays can process complex measured values, whichinclude: the effective values, real power measuringand communication capability in addition to characte-ristic curves.
Flexible adaptation. The PPRROOFFEESS--SSIIOONNAALL LLIINNEE relays let you kill two birds with onestone. With the voltage and frequency relays you caneasily select rated voltages and rated frequencies aswell as some additional protective functions by meansof a DIP switch. The current relays, for example, havea great number of standard characteristic curveswhich can be used to fit the individual application.
Universal supply. The protection relayscan be operated with alternating or direct voltage, thanks to a wide-range power pack. This way you canhave an electrical supply from the measured value its-elf or any other power source and therefore the pro-duct can be integrated into almost any operating
environment. Not only can important rated values beeasily adjusted on the unit, but there is no need for ahuge variety of associated equipment, which thereforeoptimises logistics and warehousing. This underlinesthe cost efficiency of this product line.

Always live. All the WWII LLIINNEE products areover-current time relays. The tripping characteristicsrange from the two-step independent time overcur-rent protection (DEFT), dependent (INV) right downto specialist characteristic curves.
As further options, we offer some relays with integra-ted earth current protection.
Cleverly sourced. The WI protectionrelays receive their power supply from the measured
current of the current transformers. By using the rightcombination of current transformer, low-power trippingcoil (<0.5 Ws) and the appropriate protective device, you can gain enormous cost savings. Our contributionto this, has been the development of a low-energytripping principle which can be found in all WI devi-ces. This low-energy tripping principle consists of anenergy storage system which is integrated into theWI devices, and which considerably reduces the cur-rent transformer power. Since we know how valuableand cost-intensive building space is, we are especiallyproud of the fact that our WI devices can be suppliedeven with smaller transformers. Expensive connectionvia interposing transformers is therefore not neces-sary. The operating mode, which is independent fromauxiliary voltage, guarantees you the greatest flexibi-lity when it comes to using the devices. Of course,we also offer you solutions where standard 1 A or 5A current transformers are required or where specia-list transformers in compact switchgears are used.
For rough conditions. Day in dayout - even under the roughest environmental conditi-

Customer-oriented design. The protection relays we introduce to youin this line were developed in close co-operation with our customers. This co-operation has resulted in products which will match any circuit breaker com-monly available on the market. Because these relays work independent ofauxiliary voltage, they are well suited for self-sustaining transfer and distributi-on stations, local grids and ring-main-units.

One of our latest developments is the WIC, which isused in compact ring main units - a device reduced tothe essential with an excellent price/performanceratio.
The WIC protects mains transformers against over-cur-rent and short circuits, in compact switchboards (RingMain Units) containing integrated circuit breakers. The DMT and IDMT tripping elements with their multi-characteristics allow you flexibility with your applicati-on. The WIC is also available, as an option with inte-grated earth current supervision.
You will see that the WIC has benefits to offer evenin the planning stage. Your work can be reduced sothat you only need to select one of our four wide-range current transformers with secondary currentadapted to the relay. In conjunction with these wide-range current transformers the WIC relay forms a
system with an extremely wide operating-currentrange from 16 - 448 A. The complete system oftransformer and relay has a primary short-circuit resi-stance of 62.5/25 kA 1 sec or respectively52.5/21 kA 3 sec.
Its dimensions 170/40/125 mm make the WICparticularly suitable for installation in compact switch-boards.
The WIC System provides safe planning. As thesystem is universally applicable, the varieties youhave in stock can be reduced to a minimum.
The choice is yours when it comes to parameter set-ting. Depending on the type, the WIC parameters canbe set either by way of the communication interfacevia PC or, alternatively, with a manual SEG parametersetting device, or simply via a DIP or HEX-switch.
Either supported by software or with a simple turn, you can simply adjust the tripping and excitationvalues as well as the tripping characteristic. The WIC is equipped with an integrated fault valuememory which you can read via the communicationinterface.
When it comes to servicing and commissioning, addi-tional test bushings on the top of the device makethe direct secondary current testing of the completeconverter much easier. COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING
Communication
Modern communication and linking to systems are the basis foreconomical and efficient application of your operating components. So thatwe can offer you maximum comfort, SEG has developed special softwaretools for all product lines mentioned in this brochure on the basis of stan-dardised communication channels. These tools considerably increase thefunctionality of the devices.
SEG has created solutions which guarantee you mostcomfortable protection, simplest control and commu-nication links capable of meeting challenges of thefuture.
Below you will find more detailed information concer-ning the individual product lines. Since the SSYYSSTTEEMMLLIINNEE--SSOOFFTT offers you the most comprehensive com-munication solutions, we will mention it first.
Communication links forSystem Line devices. The great num-ber of communication solutions offered by theSSYYSSTTEEMM LLIINNEE helps you save costs. Linking SSYYSSTTEEMMLLIINNEE devices together puts you in a situation whereyou will not need any maintenance staff on site. Afault has occurred? Our communication solutions willsupport you by actively looking for a fault if oneshould occur. It goes without saying that your initialfault analysis can be by remote interrogation. If, forexample, an earthfault occurs, you simply connectand disconnect various feeders in order to isolate theearthfault. After a fault event, without loosing any
time, you can immediately carry out suitable countermeasures such as switchovers.
NNoottee:: More detailed information on internal communi-cation - parameter setting, evaluation and analysis -can be found on pages 4 and 5.
Do you require not only pro-tection and control? Of course, youcan also expect comfortable support for efficient ener-gy management. Actual measured values can be read»remotely« therefore you can use your equipmentefficiently. This way you avoid load peak loads or

The software. SEG has developed an opti-mally designed parameter setting and evaluation soft-ware for every line. The software works on any com-mercial PC with a Windows operating system. Byusing this well-priced software, you do not need toinvest in anything else. Installation is quite simple. Thanks to the uniformly designed surface, operationis intuitive. With these software tools you are able toset the parameters for up to 32 devices quickly andsimultaneously from one central position. A passwordprotects the communication rights of the user. Butthat is not everything. The software also allows youto store device data. Stored fault values and possible
fault records can be documented... You and your colleagues can assign data sets withthe relevant adjustment parameters to all devices andthen prepare them comfortably at your desk. Use thesoftware to assist you in project planning. There ishardly any simpler and more comfortable way ofachieving optimal safety and accessibility.
Especially for the ProfessionalLine. For communication with these relays thereis a specially developed interface adapter Type XRS.This module, which can be placed at the side of thedevice, uses appropriate software to transfer data. The module can be easily refitted and is simple toinstall. The XRS1 is galvanically isolated from therelay via optical transmission.
The bus system. Because the RS485bus is easy to set up - a simple two-wire line is suf-fient, and allows several devices to be linked. Therefore the RS485 bus represents a simple, wellpriced communication link for you. More and morecustomers are using this communication solution, as
this bus system is accepted world-wide and the dedi-cated SEG software is available at a reasonable price. Please see our references, so that you will be convin-ced of the opportunities offered by modern communi-cation links.
Without extra charge. You canchoose between the standardised Modbus RTU andthe SEG Open Protocol. Almost all High Tech,Professional and WIP1 devices allow parameter set-ting, monitoring and evaluation via SEG's ownProtocol or via MODBUS RTU (not applicable forProfessional Line). Transmission of measured values, protection messages or fault values is also no pro-blem. Some High Tech Line devices such as the MRI3are also capable of transmitting fault records.
For connection to a higher-level SCADA system youuse the standardised Modbus RTU Protocol. On thebasis of this standardised protocol and in conjunctionwith the SEG software tools you are able to evaluateyour devices in comfort.
