Here is the start of our print advert. It is going to be the background image that will be imported and cut/cropped first to see further what looks good when furthering our print advert but also seeing if there’s anything we either don’t like or could improve.

To cut and crop we used a series of tools throughout, but for the first image to cut/crop we used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to cut/crop it to the way we want it and also at our standard.

After cutting/cropping our first image for the background we then sized and placed it in position where we were most pleased. For this we used Ctrl T to highlight the images, then we used the mouse to drag each corner into the right position and then worked on sizing the rest of the image.

We started to add text to our print advert to show the time, date, and channel it will be aired on. This breaks up the whole images from the main image and all the sub images (Fruit and junk food) around it while presenting text as well. To do this we used the Horizontal Type Tool. This allowed us to input text wherever we clicked on the screen. It proved very useful to us.

In these two screenshots you can see we have added our title “The Truth About Food” and also our main image. For the title we used the same tool (Horizontal Type Tool) and typed out or title, shortly after we then messed around with the size and the colour also the font. The font size was ‘230pt’ and we changed the font again to ‘BOLD’ and the style was the same as the text for the presentation of the documentary, this was ‘Myriad Pro’. We also changed the colour from black to white apart from 1 word involving the use of the colour red.

This is what we changed the colour using. After choosing white we then highlighted the word we wanted to change the colour of and clicked the colour icon located at the top of the page and then chose the shade of red we liked and clicked ‘OK’ it then automatically changed it to the colour we have chosen.

Here was started to then add our graphic features to the print advert by choosing the graphic feature (shape) that we wanted and changed the colour of it then rotated it.

Like we did with the main image we used the ‘Magic wand tool’ to cut a precise series of edges out of the original image we took. This made the print advert process a lot easier and quicker instead of using the ‘Polygonal Lasso tool’ only with this we did it on a different image and carried this process on throughout the making of our print advert when editing the images taken for the print advert.

As you can see here was have added a lot more graphic features and images surrounding the main image that used the repeated process of the ‘Magic wand Tool’ and changing the size and colour of the graphic features and the images.

Since this Print Advertisement we have edited the Print Advert further therefore some of the features on the Print above have been moved, enlarger and things added to.

Here is our Final Print Advertisement…

Here we used the latest Channel 4 logo on our print advert to link the ad to the channel as to what channel our documentary was going to feature on. This was used with the Polygonal lasso Tool because it required a more hand to hand touch instead of an automatic edge cutting tool like the ‘Magic wand tool’. This enabled us to cut which lines we wanted to in order to get the exact logo used by channel 4; this was because the white lines blended in with the original background of this logo.

The final touch to our print advert was the slogan in which we came up with from certain phrases we have heard before and then just put them all together to arrive with this slogan. It is a direct address slogan as it speaks to the audience but also asks a rhetorical question to get the audience thinking “Well how does it?” this was done with the same process as the other text sequences. The only thing different is the size in which we changed it a couple of “pt’s” down.
