The market for batteries and their components has experienced a strong double-digit growth for 10 years and several positive factors should ensure that the rally continues.
Firstly, this growth is based on a continuously changing portable electronics market (laptops, smartphones, tablets and now hybrids computers). Secondly, the electrification of the automobile still remains a strong driving force. While electric vehicles remain a niche market, it is a large market for batteries.
On top of that, the energy storage for renewable energy integration, Telecom basestation, back-up or UPS are even more promising. Lithium ion battery, thanks to better energy density, longer lifetime, higher discharge current and lower self-discharge try to compete with lead acid batteries and penetrate those markets despite higher capital cost and safety concerns. The cost of ownership for lithium ion could be in certain circumstances better than lead acid.
For 20 years, the Batteries event still remains one of the World’s most attractive event and the meeting place of technologies (lead acid, NiMH, Li-ion, Post Li-ion), applications (from micro batteries to large format batteries) and of the value chain (chemists OEMs and end users)...
Batteries 2019 will focus on battery market issues, latest trends and will allow you to meet new partners and customers!

EVERYBODY WANTS BETTER ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS...
LET’S GIVE IT A LOOK TOGETHER
Do you want to test a technology or look at it closely?
> We develop state-of-the-art devices for in-situ operando characterization techniques (EPR, NMR, XRD, TEM...) such as the LeRiChe’s cell for XRD in-situ battery research (now sold by Bruker AXS) or SPHERE’s cells (All solid state cell, Flow-Cell...).
Do you want to study or monitor a specific technology?
> We design custom and ambitious research projects tailored to your needs from joint industry/academic PhDs to European projects
> We produce monthly market intelligence ressources and 2 white papers/year
What fields do we cover?
> In our partner labs, our researchers and engineers cover fundamental research up to 18650 prototyping and tech-transfer
> Thanks to a strong patent portfolio, two spin-offs were created in 2017 and 2018 : TIAMAT and SPHERE
> Solid-state batteries, Li-rich materials, safety, sodium-ion, supercapacitors, lithium-sulfur, recycling...
...BUT WHAT IS HYPE AND WHAT IS REALITY?

ZPower www.zpowerbattery.com For 20 years, ZPower has been an industry leader in rechargeable battery technology. Since 1996, our company has pioneered the commercialization and innovation of silver-zinc batteries for use in multiple applications, providing high energy, rechargeable microbatteries for hearing aids, medical devices, and wearable and portable electronics. The origins of silver-zinc battery technology are decades old. Silver-zinc batteries were used by NASA and the military for mission-critical applications since the 1950s. However, their early batteries were only able to take advantage of the compound’s high energy density and weren’t commercially viable because of the limited number of recharges each battery could accept.Through nearly two decades of research, ZPower came up with a solution. We developed a proprietary, patent-protected silver-zinc rechargeable microbattery that offers the highest energy density and exceeds the safety and environmental benefits of any other rechargeable microbattery on the market. The impact of this breakthrough has put ZPower at the vanguard of microbattery innovation and design.
