Re lexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios Una de las películas estadounidenses más famosas de todos los empos para el empo de Navidad es It’s a Wonderful Life!

If we can duplicate the love Mary and Joseph and Jesus had for each other, there’s no telling what the posi ve and rich effects might be.

SAINT GENEVIEVE (422 – 512)

Patron Saint of Paris Feast day - January 3

Genevieve was born about the year 422, at Nanterre, near Paris. She was seven years old when St. Germanus of Auxerre came to her village on his way to great Britain to combat the heresy of Pelagius. The child stood in the midst of a crowd gathered around St. Germanus, who singled her out and predicted that she would become a saint. At her desire, the Bishop led her to a church, accompanied by all the faithful, and consecrated her to God as a virgin. When Genevieve’s parents died, she went to live with her godmother in Paris. She became a nun at the age of ifteen. Genevieve was very close to God, and God sometimes let her know things that would happen in the future. When Attila was reported to be marching on Paris, the inhabitants of the city prepared to evacuate, but St. Genevieve persuaded them to avert the scourge by fasting and prayer, assuring them of the protection of Heaven. The barbarian suddenly changed the course of his march. The life of St. Genevieve was one of great austerity, constant prayer, and works of charity. She dressed in a long lowing gown with a mantle covering her shoulders, similar to the type of garments the Blessed Mother wore. One of the symbols of this saint is a loaf of bread because she was so generous to the poor.

Re lecting on God’s Word One of the all- me great Christmas movies is It’s a Wonderful Life! The classic scene is the final one. The townspeople are gathering in George Bailey’s living room. They’re pouring money onto a table, all with the inten on of rescuing George from financial ruin. It’s not long before George’s brother enters the picture. Having heard of the hard mes George had been going through, he secured a leave from the military, hopped a plane, and flew all day and night to make it to Bedford Falls. He wanted to be of help. Seeing the people and the mountain of money, he raises his glass and toasts his brother, “the richest man in the world!”

George Bailey was rich, all right, but not because he was suddenly inundated with money. He was rich because he had family and friends who loved him and cared about him. There’s much to be said for the benefits and blessings of family.

St. Mother Teresa’s Ministry

As we come to the end of a year, a year of sharing with those who come with needs,. St. Mother Teresa’s ministry thanks all of you. It is through your monetary generosity and food products that we have been able to provide to the least of our brothers.

Approximately, 720 families were assisted with their utilities, 576 families received food boxes and many received snack packs as well. Snack packs are available for those who are homeless and come asking for something to eat. We thank Casa de Peregrinos for providing 21 Thanksgiving boxes, turkey, and all the fixings.

St. Mother Teresa Ministry, thanks our parishioners, Ms. Gloria Dorsett, Ms. Christella Rodriguez for preparing the food boxes each week, Mr. Leo Evans, Mr. Don Lutz, Ms. Menette Conley and Ms. Gina Rivera, for assisting with the distribution on Wednesdays. A special thanks goes to our Wednesday Men Volunteers, who delivered the Thanksgiving Boxes to the 21 families.

St. Mother Theresa’s Pantry is growing. As she said “It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving”. Peace and Blessings.
