CECE Economic ForumThe Economic Forum will provide an update on the general scenario of our sector. Renowned speakers will shed light on the state of the macro economy as well as construction industry perspectives. We will hear first insights of a market study project CECE is undertaking together with McK-insey.

The second part of the Forum will be an interactive panel discussion: Europe and North America are currently the growth engines for the worldwide construction equipment industry. It is not natural that mature markets rank highest in equipment sales growth. Will the renaissance of established markets continue, further fuelled by the TTIP agreement? Or will the focus shift back to emerging markets when the recovery in North America and Europe has come to an end?

Part 1Panelists:

The European and Global economic scenarioPhilippe Waechter, Chief Economist Natixis AM

Outlook on the international construction industryAntonio Mura, Director at CRESME Ricerche S.p.A.

European Construction Equipment – Insights from the recent studyErik Sjödin, McKinsey & Company

Part 2Europe and North America – "Two unusual suspects at the top of the growth ranking?" Panelists:

CEMA Economic Forum Commodity markets, Precision Farming & the CAP: impact & challenges for the Ag machinery industry in Europe

VenueThon Hotel EU

Room: Germany

Rue de la Loi 75, 1040 Brussels

Looking at the latest trends in agricultural commodity markets, the Forum will discuss their impact on farmers’ investment climate and the agricultural machinery markets across Europe. Next, the focus will shift to the state-of-the-art in Precision Agriculture and explore the fundamental changes driven by the expanding use of data and digital technologies in farming, examining in particular the growing agronomic and environmental bene-fits that farmers are achieving with the help of smart equipment on the ground.

The Forum will conclude with a high-level debate on the future of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP): with the new greening measures in place and the milk quotas abolished, what major effects of the current CAP are emerging? In how far is the CAP delivering on the objectives of improving food security while advancing productivity, technical innovation and sustainability in farming? And what changes might be needed for the next CAP after 2020?

CECE-CEMA Technical Forum: advancing the intelligence of smart machines

Optimizing electro-mechanical systems has always been a key driver of innovation in agricultural and construction machines. However, above and beyond this, adding intelligence is what can now make a real difference in machine innovation: a smart machine can become far more adaptive and precise, and can constantly be optimized for many different working conditions. Moreover, once machines and machine systems start talking to each other, the intel-ligent machine can become an active contributor to optimizing entire process chains, rather than just improving one single application. Featuring a number of leading speakers from the industry, the Technical Forum will explore and discuss two funda-mental questions with regards to the growing integration of intelligence into machines:

How to innovate intelligently?

How to deal with future challenges and opportunities in machine communications?

Speakers will look at the state-of-the-art in innovation and discuss how intelligence can be integrated into the innovation process itself. With regards to machine communications, speakers will discuss the impact and potential security implications of growing wireless communications and digital data flows.
