Welcome one and all to ACVS-INDIA 2012

FACTS Foundation enters into partnership with TCT/CRF, USA and brings to you all India’s Premier InterventionalExperience - ACVS INDIA 2012. FACTS would like to thank the patronage and encouragement of all our cardiology colleagues of country in general and especially the 1108 delegates who attended and made the last year conference a huge success in particular for making this partnership agreement possible. We are extremely thankful for the relentless support & encouragement of Dr. Martin B. Leon of TCT/CRF, USA and Dr. B. Soma Raju, CMD, Care Hospitals, Hyderbad, INDIA.

ACVS INDIA 2012 - The scientific program is designed to cover all aspects of the field from the basics ofcoronary intervention to advanced discussions in the areas of structural heart disease and peripheral intervention.

ACVS INDIA for Surgeons - FACTS Foundation wishes to fulfill interests of its surgical colleagues and hopes to promote collaboration between interventionalists and surgeons with ACVS-INDIA for Surgeons. The goal is to encourage the creation of “heart teams” linking interventionalists and cardiac surgeons so that they may learn from one another and work together to bring new therapies such as percutaneous valves to India. ACVS INDIA will provide a venue for the two specialties to come together and exchange ideas.

Pre Conference Workshops - In order to provide attendees with personalized exposure and more hands on experi-ence, ACVS INDIA will have several dedicated pre conference workshops. We encourage everyone to join and partici-pate actively in following workshops:

Coronary Imaging & Physiology (CIP) Workshop: This session will cover in detail various imaging modalities including IVUS and OCT as well as the role of physiologic lesion assessment with FFR. Attendees will learn the advantages and disadvantages of each technique as well as get hands on experience with the catheters and consoles.

Renal Denervation Therapy Workshop (TREND): This session will describe in detail the technique for renal denervation utilizing either dedicated catheters or traditional EP catheters. Attendees will understand the risks and benefits of the procedure from world pioneers including physicians from India who are leading the field locally.

Fellows Course: Following the enthusiastic response in 2011 from fellows & trainees all over the country, ACVS INDIA has decided to have a dedicated Fellows Course where attendees can learn not only interventional tips & tricks from masters in the field but also gain an understanding of clinical decision making through case discussions with experts. The course will also include hands on sessions for Imaging, Interventions and Rotablation.

ACVS INDIA Main Arena will bring to you live cases from premier academic institutes throughout the country as well as cases from Italy & Singapore. ACVS INDIA assures participation & practical interaction along with high quality lectures from Dr. Martin B. Leon & his TCT/CRF team members to give a true experience of TCT in our own country. Enjoy all this academic feast in a truly world class conference facility of Hyderabad International Convention Centre.

programme director’s desk

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we return to Hyderabad, India for the third an-nual Advanced Cardiovascular Solutions meeting. For the first time, ACVS is being conducted through a joint partnership between the FACTS foundation and the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. The goal of this collaboration is to bring high quality educational meetings in the field of cardiovascular medicine to India. This year’s course will build on the success and strength of last year’s meeting. In ad-dition to state-of-the-art lectures from world-renowned faculty, there will once again be a focus on high quality live case demonstrations designed to educate on all aspects of cardiovascular intervention. It is with great excitement that we have ex-panded the meeting to include educational content for fellows as well as surgeons interested in endovascular therapy. We have strived to create a program that edu-cates but also allows for the free exchange of ideas among physicians. Our hope is that this continued collaboration will lead to greater endeavors in the future. We thank you in advance for your attendance and hope you enjoy the meeting.

Sincerely,Martin B. Leon & Susheel Kodali

FACTS wishes to acknowledge the help of all the Industry outfits for making this possible.

FACTS & CARE Research Facility - This year first of its kind research facility in the country is being launched under the dynamic leadership of Dr. B. Soma Raju & Dr. N. Krishna Reddy - a one stop research outfit for conduction new innovative device research in India. This includes all research facilities like Angio and Echo Core Laboratories and along with preclinical animal lab facilities which are being planned in tie-up with other national organizations.

Community & Social Responsibility- FACTS members are fully conscious of each & every citizens’ responsibilities and plans to help Desire Society - Society which takes care of HIV affected or afflicted kids. It also launches a community based cardiovascular health screening and management programme in collaboration with Vikas Tarangani Volunteers. FACTS adopts initially small number of villages in Karimnagar & Medak Ddistricts , screens & gives medication for CV risk factors like DM, Hypertension & Dyslipidemia. Wishes to spread awareness about ill-effects of smoking and want to promote healthy living with conduction of yoga and other healthy life style promotion camps.

Facts requests all it’s members to take more active interest in all it’s activities and would like to acknowledge the unparalleled support of Dr. Martin B. Leon the founder of CRF & TCT.

Enjoy active learning experience at India’s Premier Interventional Experience - ACVS INDIA 2012

FACTS (Fraternity of Advanced Cardiovascular Techniques and Solutions) Foundation - is a non-profit organization formed by likeminded group of Cardiologists and some Cardiac Surgeons who irrespective of the area, country, continent they belong are committed to do newer research, innovation, education and training to all physicians and surgeons involved in caring of lives of suffering cardiac patients. It also aims to innovate new modalities of prevention or disease modification of cardiac disorders. This Foundation unlike any other existing Societies does not believe in having any regional or country restrictions for member-ship and encourages physicians and surgeons spread all over the world to become members, to exchange new ideas and work towards fast development of new modalities of therapy for patient care.

Ever since its inception in 2009, with idea borne by its Founder Directors - Dr. A. Sreenivas Ku-mar & Dr. Susheel Kodali, FACTS Foundation has played a major role in realizing dramatic improvements in the accessibility of educative programmes happening all over world to physicians in Hyderabad. FACTS has brought EuroPCR, TCT Live to Hyderabad in 2010, conducted first ACVS HI 2010 Conference & ACVS INDIA 2011 in Hyderabad. FACTS entered into partnership agreement with CRF/TCT and brings to you India’s Premier Interventional experience ACVS INDIA 2012.

FACTS ’s role in interventional cardiovascular medicine is unique: conducting research on therapies, pharmacology, and devices during the earliest stages of development, confirming safety and efficacy in human clinical trials, and educating the medical community regarding appropriate use of these new procedures and technologies. FACTS is trying to encourage all physicians to develop new modalities of therapy or to refine existing procedures so that they become more operator and patient friendly. To this effect one of our FACTS member Dr. K. Nageshwar Rao along with Founder Director - Dr. A. Sreenivas Kumar has succeeded in developing a newer method- the retrograde approach for device closure of VSDs - a procedure now so simplified so that a novice in interventional cardiology also can confidently practice this form of therapy. FACTS is working towards patenting new devices for closure of structural heart diseases. FACTS under advice of CRF aims to accelerate the process of new device development by decreasing the cost of production, hastening up the process of evaluation so as to benefit the suffering patients all over the world.

FACTS carries out its mission by following three basic principles.
