OVERVIEW
This manual will detail steps necessary for the successful upgrade the IAPro client software and database schema
to version 6.3.
Note: Prior to performing this upgrade, please ensure that you have a current full and complete backup of all
databases.
NECESSARY FILES
If the client machine that you are upgrading has IAPro client software version 6.1.9 or newer or version of 5.7.50
or older already installed, then you will only need to download the latest IAPro 6.3 executable from the following
link: http://iaprofessional.com/webfiles/IA63/IA.EXE and replace the executable in the IAProfessional Directory
under Program Files.
If the client machine that you are upgrading has IAPro client software version 6.1.0 through 6.1.8 already installed,
then you will need to download the IAPro 6.3 MSI Based installer from the following link:
http://iaprofessional.com/webfiles/IA63/IAProInstall62.msi. After downloading you will be required to uninstall
the existing version of IAPro via the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool (Start � Control Panel � Add/Remove
Programs) and then re-install the IAPro by utilizing the IAPro 6.3 MSI based installer. Before uninstalling you should
make a note of the IADATA and TSDATA System ODBC DSN settings (Start � Control Panel � Administrative Tools
� Data Sources (ODBC)).
Note: If you are installing IAPro client software on a computer that never had IAPro installed on it before, you will
need to download and use the IAPro 6.3 MSI Based installer.
Also you might receive a 'The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022)' error especially if you are
installing the application on an older computer. If so, you will need to run the two following commands at a
command prompt (Start � Run):
CACLS %systemroot%\System32\*.dll /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R
CACLS %systemroot%\System32\*.ocx /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R

UPGRADE PROCESS
In order to upgrade the database schema you will need to perform the following steps from a client machine that
has the latest version of the IAPro client software installed. Note the following server side upgrade steps only
need to be performed on one client machine only.
1. Start/run the IAPro client software version 6.3. You should see the following dialog box:
Note: If you do not see the above dialog box, check to ensure that you are using version 6.3 of the IAPro client
software. Also our may also have a different database version than is displayed in the above graphic. Please refer
to step 2, for the IAPro Client Software version locations.
2. Next, log in as the IAPro Administrator. Please note the version locations of the application on the log in
screen

3. Click on the “Users” Icon in the Outlook Toolbar, then the “Advanced” Tab in the lower pane and finally
click on the Product Upgrade Module label.
4. If you received the following message box indicating that you do not have the appropriate user rights to
upgrade the database, contact your IT or Database Administrator and ask them to grant DB_Owner Role
Membership to the IA_ADM user account. If your IT/DBA has any questions, please ask them to contact us
for further information.
5. On the Upgrade form, you will see the version of the IAPro application as well as the database version.
Please note the following image is just for illustration purposes, the values displayed on your system may
be different. Starting with version 6.3, we added a one button upgrade option which will eliminate the
need to run the upgrade buttons individually. Using the One Button Upgrade is the recommended
method for upgrading the database.

ONE BUTTON UPGRADE METHOD (PREFERRED METHOD)
1. Click the “Upgrade Database schema from version 5.X to 6.3” button.
2. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to run the Database upgrade(s), click the Yes button if you
want to proceed or No to cancel.
3. You will see a progress bar and a label which will indicate what part of the upgrade process is being
performed.
4. You will see a message box which will indicate that the upgrades have been completed successfully.

SEPARATE UPGRADE BUTTONS METHOD
1. Click the “Separate Upgrade Buttons” Tab on the upgrade form. Depending upon what version you
are upgrading from will depend upon which buttons are enabled on this tab.
Note: if you are upgrading from version 5.1, the 5.2.0, through 6.3.0 buttons will be enabled and if you
are upgrading from version 5.6, the 5.6.0 and the 6.3.0 buttons will be the only buttons that are enabled
and finally, if you are upgrading from version 6.0, the 6.3.0 button will be the only button that is enabled.
Very important, you must ensure that you click the lowest numbered button first followed by the
remaining buttons in succession ending with the 6.3.0 button. You will receive a confirmation dialog after
each upgrade has been completed. If you get an error message while running either upgrade, please
notify CI Technologies immediately!
2. The next step is to click on the “Common Updates” tab. On this tab you will see two buttons, click
each of these button one time only. You will see a confirmation dialog box after each upgrade has
been completed.

After performing the necessary Database schema changes, we should take a look at the IAPro configuration
settings to ensure that it is properly configured:
1. Click on the “Configure” tab and then click the “System Settings” label.
2. On the Agency Specific Information Tab, please review all information to ensure that it is accurate.
Note: Please don’t edit the agency name because certain agency specific functionality maybe disabled!

3. Click on the “Configuration” tab; ensure that the Drive Designation/UNC File path is still a valid path. You
can also check the UNC File Path by clicking the Check Path button. Please refer to the IAPro Shared
Folder Installation Guide for instructions on how to configure the shared folder or contact our technical
support department for further instructions.
Finally, ensure that the SMTP Server information is correct (if applicable). You can click the “Request the
SMTP server send a test email” button to verify if the settings are correct.
Note: the SMTP Server information is only for those customers utilizing the Blue Team Web Application.

4. Click on the Advanced Tab and check the Mailbox Only Capability setting, if your agency isn’t using this
feature, we recommend that it be turned off. To Turn of this feature, by clicking the Button Labeled “Turn
Off”. If you later decide that you want to use this feature in the future, you will be able to turn it back on
by simply clicking the Button Labeled “Turn On”. Also check the status of the Enhanced Mode Setting. If
this mode is not enabled at your site please contact our technical support department for further
instructions.
5. Congratulations, you have successfully upgraded and configured your IAPro database. All that is remaining
is upgrade each client machine with version 6.3 of the IAPro client software. Please refer to the first two
paragraphs in the Necessary Files Section on page 1 of this document for information on upgrading the
remaining client machines.
Note: The above steps only need to be performed on one machine only!
