The hypothesis was then designed as a model that could be deployed in a space between the neighborhood and the river. The model had to interface with the existing landscape, change the existing conditions and perform over time. For the model portion of the project I looked at bringing the river more into daily contact with the neighborhood from across the levee. The module measured things from the river such as boat traffic, river speed, and water level, the displaying them on a LED screen in the neighborhood that could be moved anywhere along the levee wall. The LED screen abstractly displays all of these change currently as well as over time abstractly to viewer. The final step of project two was incorporating a new web based photomerging technology known as Microsoft Photosynth to further explain the placement of our module and how the module works, incorporating, text, perspectives and diagrams of the workings of the model. Project 2.001 Mcnab . Spencer Project 2.001 started with the class exploring a various array of nascent technologies and the relationship between the built constructed and inorganic with the live, evolving, and organic side of the landscape. In addition to this research some research was also conducted on a responsive environment project that focuses on technology. Four technologies from the following technology categories were investigated: sense (involving the sensing of data), process (what processes that data), and transform/output (how the data is displayed in human terms). Beyond these three technologies each student was required to research three upcoming and new materials from the website transmaterials.net. For the first part of the project I choose to further define the technologies of optical radiation, MySQL, LED lighting controls, and CAD/CAM. From the transmaterials website I looked at the follow new materials or projects: parabienta, protrude/flow, and luna. For the responsive environment technology I picked to further investigate the Dune 4.2 project on the river Maas in Rotterdam by Daan Roosegaarde. After the case studies of the materials, projects, and technologies, we were required to reflect on our past studio work and translate a series of technologies into a hypothesis regarding the application to the built environment. The hypothesis has to focus on answering how technologies are active, reactive, and interactive as well as transform the built environment.
