Project Title: TurraDesign Purpose: To provide students with a real world opportunity to design produce and sell their own products to our local school community and the public. Over the project, students will develop industry standard skills in the following:

Design – using CAD technology such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Creo parametric (pro engineer).

Manufacturing and assembly – using a state of the art laser cutter and 3D printer.

Marketing – the design, development, display and sale of manufactured products.

Students will also gain:

Knowledge and understanding about shopfront and stall layouts in the design and production of a local market stall.

Valuable team work and collaboration skills.

Application writing skills – in order to obtain an exhibitors/hawkers licence from council.

Consultation skills, when discussion and developing quotes/orders for clients

The importance of learning and developing all these skills is to gain a real world experience in the design, production and sale of quality products. This is something that has not been offered to students at our school and may act as a pathway into other design, production or sales careers. Students will be given the opportunity to develop and manage their own brand/business, while working closely and engaging with the design process. End product: The end product is the design, manufacture and sale of each team’s products at a student designed display. Students will design and develop a display of student products for marketing and sale at the Turramurra High School Twilight Markets or for other local market events. This will run in collaboration with the PBL unit 'Jewellery by TURRADESIGN'.
