1 POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Project Coordinator Type of Appointment: Fixed Term Part Time Salary: $47,000 pro rata 0.6 (plus 9.5% superannuation) Responsible to: General Manager Music SA Location: St Paul’s Creative Centre Purpose of Position: The Project Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of training and development projects that build the professional careers of original contemporary SA musicians. Position Objective: The overarching objective of the role is to help develop sustainable and successful artist careers, provide education pathways and grow business capacity and capability for the South Australian contemporary music industry. This will involve identifying, initiating and managing activities and projects to support Music SA’s aims in the areas of emerging artist & practitioner development, music industry development and audience development. Key Responsibility Areas: Management of: 1. Annual Workshops Program 2. Master classes for musicians 3. Teacher PD Sessions 4. City of Adelaide All Ages Gigs Project 5. School roadshow 6. School holiday boot camps 7. Website resources for musicians 8. Other New Projects and Innovations as directed Position Strategies: Design, promotion and delivery of an annual program of APRA funded professional development workshops (four) Keep abreast of current research and trends and develop new innovative approaches to filling local music industry gaps

Position Strategies:

• Design, promotion and delivery of an annual program of APRA funded professional development workshops (four)

• Work with Stigwood Fellows (past and present) to ensure that they are involved in the presentation of workshops, master classes and the Teacher PD sessions

• Work closely with the Marketing Manager to promote training programs • Work with the General Manager to build the sector’s profile and its industry

networks both locally and nationally through business development initiatives (such as short courses and the Teachers PD sessions)

• Identifying interesting topics, approaching speakers, booking venues, finding accommodation, budgeting, preparing speaker notes, setting up presentations, arranging catering, writing handouts and paying invoices

• Collect data and report on the effectiveness of the training and development undertaken by Music SA

• Develop and present online resources for musicians that are relevant and engaging • Work with the City of Adelaide and key music schools to design, promote and

produce a series of all ages gigs for secondary students that allow young people to experience live music in city based venues

• Work with the Head of Training and provide assistance with school holiday boot camps and the development of a school roadshow

• Provide regular reports on service provision to the General Manager for inclusion in Board reports, grant acquittals, client reports and the Annual Report

• Attending and participating in key industry events including o Conferences & forums o Judging for awards o Guest speaker, courses/seminars

other peoples’ projects where possible. • Commitment to WHS and Child Safe practices. Essential Requirements: 1. Demonstrable high-level knowledge of the SA music industry. 2. Demonstrable experience in the professional music industry in at least two of the

following roles: musician, artist manager, tour manager, promoter, booker, publisher,

publicist, songwriter, agent, marketing coordinator, production coordinator, tutor, trainer or festival/event manager.

3. Demonstrable ability and desire to develop and manage a diverse range of projects and programs, including researching, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, promotion and liaison.

4. Excellent organisational and administrative skills and an ability to work autonomously 5. Proven ability to communicate with and mentor people from diverse backgrounds (artists,

practitioners, students, stakeholders, staff and board members), and being able to demonstrate diplomacy, discretion and good humour as circumstances require.

6. Proven ability and desire to prioritise work and complete tasks on time with a minimum of supervision and to continuously develop new skills and experience through the position.

7. Understanding of profit margins, budgeting, revenue and expense control and management of invoicing.

8. Commitment to programs and projects underpinned by access and equity principles. 9. Willingness to think creatively to develop innovative solutions to problems. 10. Proven high level of literacy and computing skills 11. Working knowledge of the principles of marketing and promotion via social media. 12. Experience in website content management and a good understanding of website design Special Conditions: • A laptop and office resources will be provided • Flexible hours can be negotiated • No overtime, however significant out-of-hours work will be rewarded with time off as

negotiated with the General Manager • Professional development will be provided as negotiated including attendances at key
