The Project Management Principles and Practices with MS Project short course is ideal for you if you want to design, implement and manage basic project plans using proven project management software applications for scheduling purposes. After completing this course, you will be able to use MS Projects as a tool to manage projects in your specific working environment and understand the role of the Project Support Office in the successfully completing any project projects.
This course earns you credit towards the Programme in Project Management (PPM).

Course content
• Introduction to projects and project management• Product lifecycles and phases• Initiating and defining projects• Identifying work responsibilities and roles• Project time management• Critical-chain project management• Project control• Work authorisation• Developing and planning project information • Scheduling and charting project information• Creating task dependencies• Working with resources and calendars• Assigning resources to tasks• Tracking project progress• Formatting and printing customised tables, views and reports
The first three days of the course cover the theoretical part of project planning, followed by two days of hands-on training on MS Project using the theoretical component as foundation. Learning outcomes
After successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to• initiate projects, identify stakeholders and develop
scope statements for projects in their work environment• manage scope changes• plan the lifecycles of projects in their work environment• identify work packages, and the responsibilities and
roles of stakeholders• schedule projects, allocate resources, estimate costs
and control progress of delivery• explain the benefits and limitations of software
applications such as MS Project and others, and• explain the basics of critical-chain project management
and of systems to authorise project work.

This course is ideal for you if you are involved in or associated with projects, whether as a project manager, planner, project team member or senior manager. The course is suitable for all sectors of business and government.

Admission requirements
Prospective delegates should at least have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and/or relevant work experience.
