2015 APEC SCSC1 Summary

Korea presented the final project report Inspiring the Next Generation of Standards Professional: Towards Job Profiling in Today's Global World (2015/SOM1/SCSC/041-043). The report includes definition/classification of standards professional to be used

in developing occupation standard or competency requirements of standards professionals in the future. The analysis provides some evidence of job market existence in companies and in standards-specialty organizations.

The updated summary recommendations were presented. Members reaffirmed their support and the continuing interest to collaborate on: 1) more active information exchange and joint actions in the region

for next generation, 2) Developing Career Path/Model Best Practices (Case Studies) of

standards professionals, and 3) Developing Competency Requirements (Blueprint).

This project will collect best practices of leading professionals, and develop career roadmap and vision to meet the needs of businesses, government agencies, education

institutes, and standards-related organization in the APEC region. The objectives of this project are the following:

1. To collect and discuss best practices of leading professionals in member economies

2. To develop career path & roadmap for standardization professionals

1. Also considering the attributes of conformity assessment and metrology

3. To prepare actionable recommendations for APEC SCSC and CTI
