Dana Point Mariners Village & Wharf (Dana Point Harbor Dr. & Island Way)If youre looking for the perfect place to eat dinner, the numerous restaurants

located at the Dana Point Mariners Village & Wharf are the perfect place for you

and your date to enjoy all types of wonderful delicious food. Seafood, Italian,

Mexican, New York-style, even Turkish are all present here on this waterfront

road.

Heritage Park (Del Prado & Old Golden Lantern)You wont find any ducks at this park, nor will you find a 18th Century

Revolutionary War play island. What you will find is a park at the top of a hill

with a gorgeous view of the ocean and the surrounding marina. This is the

perfect place for you and your date to gaze off into the distance! (Note: This

park closes at 10pm so you wont be able to go to it after the dance ends.)

Beaches!All the way up and down PCH from the Ocean Institute are miles and miles of

coastline that are just waiting for you and your prom date to set foot upon

them. Or, you can take advantage of the private beach just behind the Ocean

Institute before the dance! (No movement in and out of the dance floor will be

permitted.)

t for Men!By Alice ZuoBefore the day of the dance: Ask a girl. Use flowers, candles,

anything you think shell like! (Ifyoure still clueless as to how toapproach your lady friend, refer toShivantis article on how to ask.)

Get an outfit. The most importantpart of your outfit is your tux. Rent/

buy/borrow one a few weeks early.Norwalks Formal Notice has a prettyneat deal, especially with thediscount that you get when you buya ticket! Next, match with your date

tie, vest, etc. its up to you! Makesure you two look like an item thatnight. (;

Buy corsage. If youre scared thatyour taste in floral arrangementsmight not be up to bat, take yourdate with you and let her choose anarrangement!

Arrange transportation. DanaPoint is quite a ways away fromCerritos, so if youre planning ondriving, make sure your date arecomfortable enough for the longride. If youre planning on taking alimo, reserve early and plan outseating arrangements!

Make reservations at arestaurant. Ocean Institute issurrounded by dozens of restaurants(refer to Joshs article if you want tomeet a specific taste), but I mustwarn you some of these are quitefancy so fatten up your wallet a bit!

On the day of: Dress yourself up. Comb your hair,

brush your teeth, wash your face,shave extra hairs, straighten your tie,brush the dust off your shoulders, bedressed to impress. Make all yourdates friends jealous. (;

Bring money.As I said before,dinner will create a huge dent inyour wallet, so bring a little moremoney than you plan to spend, andyoull be good.

Take pictures. Your date will havealready arranged the pictures(hopefully), so all you have to do isstep in and pose!

At the dance: Have fun! Do NOT be awkward.

(Refer to Isabels article if you feelyou were born awkward and do notknow what to do with a person of

the opposite gender.)

Flirt, be a gentleman. If you planon making the romance last longerthan just one night, let her know!Treat her like a princess and let herhave a good time (even if youarent).

Enjoy the scenery. The beachsurrounding the Institute is

absolutely gorgeous, so if you feeltired of dancing, take a stroll in theevening breeze along the ocean.Trust me, its movie material, whichmeans shell love it.

Dress- Go dress shopping with

your friends! Try to go early so

you arent rushing and you can

find the perfect one (and so

that your date can match).

Accessories- Make sure to

buy/borrow earrings, necklace,bracelets, clutches, shoes

Corsage- Go with your date to

the florist! The ladies at the

store are usually really nice and

will help you with colors but

white is always safe.

Hair/Makeup- Practice ahead

of time! You dont want to be

rushing too much so planahead of time what looks best

with your dress and maybe ask

friends for their opinion or evenfor some help.

Nails- Go get some sparkle on

your nail! Try and get your nails

did at least a few days before

prom you dont want to be at

the nail salon the day!

Pictures- Dont forget to make

an appointment for you and

your date! ALSO there are

pictures on the beach at ocean

institute! DONT FORGET TO

SIGN UP IF YOURE

INTERESTED :) its going to be

AMAZING!!!

For all those girls who went

fishing for a prom date, dont

forget to keep talking to them up

until prom you DO NOT want

awkwardness!

(phone and camera) - you dont

What to put in your clutch:

Makeup- You at least need to

bring your lip gloss and your

eyeliner! These are the two

things that always wear off!

Money- In case your date falls

short on money, you gotta

Mints- You never know when

you need those breath mints! ;]

Student ID Card- You want to

get in right? Then you better

bring your student ID card!

Tampons/Pads- Mother

Nature is cruel sometimes

What are the chances of a fly kid like you turning into an awkward panda atProm? Very low. But as the clock ticks closer to the dance, you cant help but fillyour head with anxiety as you continuously ask yourself, IS IT GOING TO BEAWKWARD?! With or without a date, do not fret! Follow this guide of tips andsuggestions on how to prevent awkward moments at PROM to guarantee you thetime of your life, or your money back! (jk I dont have money to give back)

If youre stagging, plan to go to prom with other staggers! THE MORE THE MERRIER because whatsbetter than a staggin wagon? NOTHING.

If you do decide to hang out with your couple friends, make sure to give them some privacy. Minglewith other staggers because stag + stag = couple.

Couples, dont try to slow dance/grind to every fast song just because you have no rhythm. Try somesilly dance moves like the Costco push cart or the wheelchair! Anything is

better than just sidestepping for four hours.

Also, dont limit yourselves to only grinding and

shuffling, release your inner nerdiness and try the different math dance moves!

Even if you dont really like to dance or arent good, get on the dance floor to get in the zone, embraceyour mutual awkwardness and learn from each other, or make fun of everyone in closer range. (;

Be your goofy self and entertain your date! But dont do it the whole night, she might think you have a5 year old mentality.

Be fun & lighthearted and refrain from being super serious! That might scare away your date or yourfriend(s).

Take a lot of pictures! You are going to be too busy taking pictures to be awkward. Its also a good wayto preserve your amazing memories from PROM.

What if it does get awkward?

START SINGING CLARA CHUNG SONGS Her voice is therapeutic to awkwardness.Try the desserts! Enjoy the free dippin dots with your friends or dates or sit by thebonfire pit and enjoy the delicious smores by the ocean.LAUGH IT OFF & FORGET ABOUT IT. Get the awkwardness out of your system! It is onlyawkward if you make it awkward. Be yourself & just try to have a good time andeverything will fall into place.

First off, dont worry that you dont have a date. You just had too many to choose fromand you couldnt make up your mind. But youll still have a LEGENDARY time at Prom!

REASONS TO GO STAG:

1. No awkwardness! You dont have to constantly worry about if shes having agood time or have to pretend you need to go to the bathroom every timesomething gets awkward!

2. Save money! Even though tickets to Prom are only $65 w/ ASB $75 w/o ASB

during presale and $75 w/ ASB $85 w/o ASB after, you KNOW it costs a wholelot of money to go to Prom with a date. So save your money!

3. Grab a few of your friends and get BEACHSIDE PHOTOS taken by Sean Fugiwara!4. Use all that extra money you saved by not asking to splurge at one of the

amazing restaurants in Dana Point!5. GETCHO FREAK ONNN! No judging! Without a date you can get crazy on the

dance floor, no dance skills needed (story of mahh life).6. Dancing not your thing? Need a break? Shoot some pool! There will be plenty of

fun things for you to do when youre not dancing. Pool, food, caricatures, photoboothyoull never get bored!

7. Go with your friends! You most likely have a few friends who dont have dates.Just go together! Chances are youll actually have more fun with a bunch of your

friends.8. Hit on other stags!9. PIG OUT on the unlimited complimentary DESSERTS AND DRINKS!10.Get as MANY Smores and Dippin Dots as you want! Theyre free and will be

served all night! No worrying about if your date will think youre a ravenousfreak!

11.Best of all, you can spend the whole night with CLARA C without worrying aboutyour date! ;D (you know you want to)

So the biggest school event of the year is coming, and you have no date. Are you goingto stay home? No. Youre not. Youre going to be an independent woman and dress upin your dress and make the other boys regret not having asked you. Because we live inmodern times in which women no longer live in the cult of domesticity. Here are someways to be swag, not stag. Yeeaaah foo.

o Dress like the hottie you are: Go bold, beautiful, pretty, or cute. Curl thathair. Paint those nails. And make those boys think, Why didnt I ask her?!

o Have fun: Make up an imaginary boyfriend. Go to intimate PDA-ing couples and

gawk at them from an inch away. Make awkward couples even more awkward.o Go with a group: What better way to have fun than with a group of friends?!

Go with some friends and take your own pictures, eat dinner together, and talkabout what a drag it will be for the girls who have to deal with awkward dudes.

o Take a lot of pictures: Document the fun! Look back on them in the future,and realize you dont need a boy to have a good life. Fsho!

o Be weird: Need there be a description for this?

Some advantages to flying solo~!o You dont have to deal with awkward moments.o You dont have to worry about being jealous, because your date keeps stealing

obvious glances at Clara Chung.

o You can dance however you want. Without being judged. Do the rumba, the chacha, the polka, the shuffle (eh), the waltzand you dont have to worry aboutwhere to put your hands on a guy when you dance, or what to do with yourhead during the slow dance.

o You can eat. A lot.o You dont have to go through trouble: reserving pictures, paying for the limo, etc.o Why would you want to be tied down to one boy for 4+ hours?o Youll have a fantastic story to tell your future grandchildren (if you get married)o You dont have to deal with PDS.
