WOBBLY BOAT RACE12th February 2016

Al Bandar Marina and ART Marine Marinas held an exciting race event where participating teams were tasked with building water crafts by using limited material such as plywood, bags, baton, screws, nails and duct tape. Teams had to show their engineering abilities in making the fastest boat and designing skills to secure prizes for the “best dressed” and the “speedy” boat. For information on future event dates and registrations, contact Al Bandar ART Marine office at +971 2 810 7655.

EARTH HOUR EVENT IN AL BANDAR19th March 2016

Earth Hour is the worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with a common goal to conserve energy and to prevent global climate change. Al Bandar residents were encouraged to switch off the lights for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm and join a free yoga session followed by live harpist music in the amphitheatre area. Non-essential lighting in the community was switched off and some lighting dimmed for one hour. We hope to spread further awareness about how minor actions can have a big impact.

NEW FLOOR LIGHTS Due to numerous observations received from Al Bandar residents, a decision was made to replace floor lights around the main water feature area and the main gate leading to Al Naseem. Newly installed LED lights are more efficient and reduce pedestrian hazards. Thank you for your input!

REPAINTING OF AL NASEEM MAIN GATE Al Naseem main entry gate has been recently repainted as part of the general upkeep of the community.

NEW FURNITURE IN AL NASEEM FAMILY POOLIn anticipation of the summer season, new pool furniture has been installed. Please care for the furniture, and if any of it needs attention, kindly inform our life guards. With the approach of warmer weather, we hope that the family pool will become a focal point for relaxation and enjoyment for residents.

“NO SMOKING” SIGNAGE ON THE LB AND UB PARKING LEVELSWe have recently installed “No Smoking” signs on all of the lower and upper basement parking levels. The signs are reminders to all the residents that smoking inside the building corridors, the staircases, the lobbies and on the car parking levels is prohibited due to health and safety concerns.

Dzovig is a fashion stylist and personal shopper who combines her creative skill with acquired expertise to create an incomparable new you. Dzovig realised this goal in the creation of Style Codes which specialises in providing these services to anyone who has ever felt uncomfortable in the clothes they wear, has little time to shop or has simply wanted to reinvent their look.

How does Style Codes work? A client approaches me with the specific service they feel they need, or I suggest a service that best suits their needs. For example, many clients often find themselves in a situation where they have a closet full of clothes, yet nothing to wear. The first step here is a “wardrobe-weeding” session, where the client is first asked about their lifestyle, their job, and the way they prefer to dress and present themselves on a day-to-day basis. Then, my job is to look at whether the clothes in the wardrobe suit the body, the colour palette and the lifestyle, keeping in mind today’s trends. Clothes are categorised into options, where the imbalance in the client’s wardrobe is identified. In this service, the focus is then to bear this gap in mind with any future shopping occasion the client may have with or without my guidance.

What makes the style of a person and what makes it beautiful? Style is not limited to a person’s clothes. Style is encapsulated in the way a person speaks, in a person’s manner, their thoughts and emotions – in short, style is an expression of oneself. What makes style beautiful is when this inner being is meticulously translated into clothes a person actually feels comfortable and themselves in. The service I offer is to enable this translation to happen.

Who are your style icons? I would say my definite favourite is Victoria Beckham. She constantly reinvents an astonishing collection, time and time again, while remaining faithful to her individual style. Another icon for me is Carine Roitfeld, who epitomises French elegance and always dresses in a manner I can imagine myself wearing.

What are the three style essentials? Firstly, undergarments form the neat and tidy starting point to a good-looking outfit. Secondly, I am a firm believer that one should keep themselves well groomed. Finally, anyone getting dressed must keep in mind the balancing act between tight and loose, short and long, the combination of fabrics as well as chosen accessories. In short, keep proportions in mind!

Dzovig’s style tips: Your clothes should work for your body type and complement your features. Never forget to wear clothes appropriate for the

given occasion. Personally, I am a big believer in quality over quantity. Finally, never forget to inject new life into your style: look at what elements appear in the fashion world, and give yourself the chance to find which of those suit you best.

Learn more about Dzovig

It was at Yves Saint Laurent’s prêt-à-porter boutique in The Hague where Dzovig discovered her love for fashion. By taking part in catwalk shows, she travelled around Europe to handpick new collections, while meeting new designers for the multiple brand boutique Monique Clermonte.

A jet-setter for the last twenty-four years, Dzovig lived in The Hague, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, where each setting opened up new doors and allowed her to discover an array of different approaches to personal style. Majored in Commerce and Economy but bathed in fashion since a very young age with a stylish mother, aunt and a smart couturier father, she knew that fashion styling was her path.

After winning several prestigious prizes (including the coveted Best Hat prize at the 2011 World Cup Jaguar Style Stakes at Meydan Racecourse) and attending London College of Fashion styling courses, Dzovig decided to combine her passion for style and her fashion knowledge with the launch of Style Codes.

With a knowledge of cultures, Dzovig speaks five languages and was trained for Personal Fashion Styling with Leonie Towel from Blink IC and also Photo Shoot Styling with Marissa Woods from Image Factor.

PET ETIQUETTE

We have received comments from residents regarding pet owners who are not following basic community pet rules. In order to maintain a safe and clean environment, we are seeking cooperation from all residents. Below are some of the reminders we’ve sent through the portal:• Pets must be on a leash when walked outside in any part

of Al Bandar (common corridors, elevators and lobbies);• Scoop pet waste and dispose of it properly;• Keep your pets close when other pets or people (especially

kids) are near;• Make sure to control any excessive barking;• Be mindful of your neighbors’ property and Al Bandar

common areas;• Respect designated pet-free zones, which are clearly sign

posted;• Make sure that pets have all necessary vaccinations, and

provide community management with a copy of the valid vaccination card of your pet so it can be kept in the file.

The security team and concierge are instructed to approach any pet owners who are not adhering to the rules, so your cooperation in this aspect would be most appreciated.

DANGER OF DISPOSING ITEMS FROM BALCONIES AND TERRACES

With the approach of the warmer season and increased use of balconies and terraces, please be extra careful. There is an inherent danger of disposing of cigarette stubs, ash, refuse and other items, accidentally or intentionally dropped, and it is quite disrespectful to residents below. We encourage you to be mindful and respect your neighbors and the community. Should an incident happen where damages occur, the person responsible for causing the damage will be held responsible.
