Proposed
Allegheny Energy Center
• We build, own and operate wind, solar and natural gas fired power plants
• Headquartered in Chicago with approximately 700 employees
• World’s largest independent privately-held renewables company
The Allegheny Energy Center will generate electricity using a
Natural Gas Fired Combined Cycle Power Plant

CONFIDENTIAL AND PROPRIETARY 4
Invenergy has developed over 10,000 MW of utility-scale projects
globally; our North American portfolio exceeds 9,500 MW.

Ector County Peaker Texas 2015 330 MW
Total: 3,159 MW
• Invenergy operates seven natural gas fired
power plants in the U.S. and Canada.
• In 2015 we completed the 584 MW Nelson
combined cycle plant in Illinois and the 330 MW
Ector County peaker plant in Texas.
We operate over 3,100 MW of natural gas fired power plants
500 MW serves about 500,000 households

Benefits
Brownfield
Reuse Vast land area with low development potential due to historical use. The Department of
Environmental Protection and the courts placed restrictions that preclude residential
development. By reclaiming the brownfield, this project will provide the community with a
beneficial reuse of otherwise unusable property.

• 200 - 300 jobs during a two year construction period generating over $30 million in payroll
• 21 full-time jobs at the plant generating over $2 million payroll annually
• Dozens of vendor & local business opportunities during construction and life of plant
• Increase to tax base

Air Emissions The project will be permitted by the Allegheny County Health Department Air Quality
Program.
They require the project to utilize the most stringent, state-of-the-art, best available air
emissions control technologies and require us to comply with applicable Federal and local
regulations.
AEC’s high efficiency and its use of natural gas will ultimately replace higher emitting
legacy power plants and fill an electricity supply void to help keep power prices down.

Water AEC is evaluating various solutions. Most of the water is evaporated in the cooling
process and what is left will be discharged in accordance with laws and regulations.
Visibility The plant will be nestled within the tree boundaries along the existing power lines at the
brownfield site. Part of the exhaust stack, estimated to be roughly a similar height as a cell
tower, may be visible to some residents. Also, the plant will emit water vapor which may
appear white and translucent.

Lighting The plant will use downward directional lighting except in the case of infrequent nighttime
maintenance when certain areas will get additional temporary lighting.
No odor There are no detectable odors
Sound All local ordinances will be met for sound levels. Generally, plants tend be around 60 decibels at
the boundary. According to OSHA, this would be similar to the sound level of a living room with
television or music playing quietly in the next room.
