Owner Ross Christensen - tells us about the past and future for this successfull company - “In ‘92 I started a fishing business in Hamilton thinking it would be a good lifestyle business which would allow me to earn a living and enjoy the wonderful fishing/outdoors that we have in abundance here in NZ. I had previously fished with Bill from Ramco Boats, and he mentioned that they were looking for a dealer in Hamilton & at the same time Mercury Marine where looking to expand in the Waikato. After much planning we started Fish City with the basic principle of having a good range of products at competitive prices and a team who are knowledgeable and helpful. This basic principle is about the only thing that hasn’t changed at Fish City in the last 18 years!”“We were quite surprised at the rate of growth we experienced, and had to shift into bigger premises twice in the first 7 years of operation. We really worked hard on buying good quality gear at different price points that actually caught fish and didn’t crap out in 5 minutes.”“After 9 years we put another team of specialists together and started the Albany branch. This allowed us to buy in larger quantities and be ultra competitive. It also gave us the ability to transfer stock between branches in peak times, and with two fishing mad teams we had a huge amount of fishing and tackle knowledge, as

“ I, have been using the Fin-Nor Marquesa for a year or so”….. Fin-Nor Marquesa’s are a very smooth high-speed jigging reel with plenty of drag, up to 18kg. The drag on these reels is super smooth and is excellent for playing any sized Kingfi sh, especially the larger kind. The Fin-Nor Marquesa reel also has a forged machined aluminium frame, gear and side plate to make it a strong and durable fi shing reel. Kingfi sh shown in the photo attached was caught on this particular reel. I haven’t used any other reel since using this one so I do recommend you try one out.
