SIMATIC ProTool is the tool for consistently cong-uring all SIMATIC Panels and Multi Panels, as well as PC-based systems using the ProTool/Pro Runtime visu-alization software. Depend-ing on the task at hand, you have available three different versions.

Version 6.0 strengthens the already close links between ProTool cong-uring and the STEP 7 world, thus consistently developing the synergy potential of Totally Integrated Automa-tion.

Enhanced integration of process variables from the STEP 7 database:

Access to the STEP 7 variables is even easier and faster using a spe-cial variable browser.

ProTool applies the full variable names generated in the STEP 7 symbol editor, including special characters.

Tooltips displays all variable informa-tion, including the original address, in all affected ProTool dialog boxes.

References are retained or are re-synchronized using automatic mech-anisms, even in the case of a controller change in STEP 7.

Controllability of ProTool in the STEP 7 Manager:

An HMI project can, for example, be transferred directly to the target system using the STEP 7 Manager. And this can be done without pre-viously having to start ProTool. The project is generated automatically in the background.

Export/import of all text

ProTool V6.0 enables the export and import of all texts in a project. In the case of projects with several runtime languages, the exported texts can be passed on for translation and then re-imported. This has the following ben-ets:

The project can be fully created and tested in one language.

Conguring engineers are ofoaded, since they only have to create the interface in a language familiar to them.

The translator can work on the texts outside ProTool using standard edi-tors.

Converting a conguration for a target device with a higher or lower screen resolution (i.e. OP37 10 to MP 370 12) takes only a few steps. All screen contents are zoomed to the new resolution.

Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer with the MP 270B and MP 370

Using the reloadable Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer, you can display HTML documents on the MP 270B and the MP 370. For example, operat-ing instructions, working and service guides or production specications that are stored centrally on the higher-level system.

Soft-PLC WinAC MP

SIMATIC WinAC MP is the Soft-PLC based on Windows CE. You can install it as an option on the MP 370 Multi Panel and it makes possible control and visualization on a robust and compact hardware. WinAC MP is the economic solution for data-intensive automation tasks.

Language genius

Panels and Multi Panels now allow up to 5 online languages. Up to 32 languages can be managed in one project. This reduces handling and conguring costs since, for exam-ple, export-oriented machine builders require only one conguration for sev-eral target countries.

This new screen object constitutes a user-friendly graphical input method. The operator makes a selection from a list of symbols, allowing congura-tion to be carried out independently of language.

DP direct keys

If you congure keys or pushbuttons on the Panels and Multi Panels as DP direct keys, the system transfers them to the SIMATIC S7 as I/O peripherals via the PROFIBUS DP. This makes pos-sible time-critical operator inputs with very short response times (less than 100 ms).

More user-friendly recipe handling

Recipes can now be structured more easily and quickly with the help of arrays. A display conguration can be created for managing the data records.

Return values in the case of recipes enables automatic triggering with scripts. The data record names can be transferred using character strings. This makes it possible, for

example, for the controller to auto-matically save data records based on data record names specied by pro-duction planning systems.

Recipes can now be password-pro-tected against unauthorized access; in this case, read only access is pos-sible.

Expanded alarm logging system

Output of messages now also with fault location and time stamp in ms: the fault location helps the operator to easily assign a message to, for example, a device such as a con-veyor belt.

Output of the time in milliseconds supports users in particular with Alarm_S. This message system makes possible messages in the cor-rect time sequence. In this connec-tion, the high-resolution timestamp provides improved transparency.

Message archives can also be lled directly with message texts: This means that without any additional overhead, it is possible to evaluate the message archive in plain text using external tools (i.e. MS Access).

With ProTool V6.0, the ProSave V6.0 service tool is available for all 170, 270 and 370 series Panels and Multi Panels. The tool runs under Windows either on a standalone basis or inte-grated in ProTool. This means that you can save the entire internal ash memory including applications, reci-pes and passwords (backup/restore). You can also reload specic drivers. You make the connection by means of USB, MPI, PROFIBUS DP, Ethernet (TCP/IP) or the RS 232 (serial) port.
