ProviderConnect® DSM-5 Screen

Accommodations Guide

Screen Accommodations - Behavioral

2

Beginning January 1, 2014 providers can provide

information using the new DSM-5 by entering any

behavioral diagnosis under the existing Axis I field

if they choose. Axis II can be noted as No

Diagnosis(V71.09).

Alternatively, providers who wish to continue to

utilize the Axis I & II design of DSM-IVTR may

continue to do so.

NOTE: Diagnosis descriptions will continue to be in

DSM-IVTR language and will not reflect updated

descriptions.

Providers will be able to continue to enter the

general diagnostic category for medical issues

the member may have. Axis III should continue to

be used for this purpose until the final screen

changes are in place.

Axis IV should continue to be used for

documenting social elements impacting the

diagnosis.

Until the final screen changes are completed later in

2014 we will be allowing users to continue to enter

GAF scores. If you choose not to complete a GAF

you may put 99 in the axis V field.

ValueOptions intends to move toward the

complete redesign of the diagnosis screens in

second quarter 2014.

At that time screens will be modified to more

closely mirror the new DSM-5. At that time

additional information & training will be provided

to users of the Connects systems.

We are excited to be combining this change with

other changes to make the system better meet

the needs of all our users & look forward to

providing this additional information in the

upcoming months.
