Bill benefits to pursue educational success at East Tennessee State University. Our staff is well aware of the difficulties that can be associated with transitioning from combat to the classroom. Jobs Military Friendly Schools for the past 4 years (over 12,000 colleges and universities were rated) Slide 6 School is VA Approved Yellow Ribbon Participant Accepts College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Part of SOC Degree Network System Accepts the ACE recommendations for awarding credit for CLEP and/or DSST Regional Accreditation Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Slide 7 East Tennessee State University Main Campus Slide 8 Quillen College of Medicine Slide 9 Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy Slide 10 ETSU at Kingsport Slide 11 Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. Under Chapter 30, Active Duty members enroll and pay $100 per month for 12 months; and are then entitled to receive a monthly education benefit once they have completed a minimum service obligation Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. Slide 12 Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation Assists Veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs.service-connected disabilities For Veterans with service-connected disabilities so severe that they cannot immediately consider work, Vet Success offers services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible. Slide 13 Chapter 32 Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: Entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985 Opened a contribution account before April 1, 1987 Slide 14 Chapter 33 Post 911 GI Bill The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001 You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Slide 15 Chapter 35 Survivors & Dependents Assistance (DEA) Provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on- the-job training. Slide 16 Chapter 1606 Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) The MGIB-SR program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Selected Reserve components. VA makes the payments for this program. You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits. Slide 17 Chapter 1607 Reserve Educational Assistance (REAP) Provides educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to active duty in response to a war or national emergency This program makes certain reservists who were activated for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001 either eligible for education benefits or eligible for increased benefits.
