Psalm 107: When We Need God to Come Through

Today we are talking about prayer, the crying out kind of prayer where we are desperate for God to intervene. We will meet several groups of people who are in desperate situations. Some were in them because of their sin, for others it was just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. All of them needed God to come through.

How about you? Do you need God to come through in your life?

How do you need the Lord to come through for you?

We will come back to your need, but for right now, let’s explore Psalm 107.

Read Psalm 107 through twice.

Read Psalm 107:1 & 2

Who are the redeemed?

What should they do?

There are four groups of people and four ways that God intervenes

4 Groups of People 4 Interventions

v. 4, v.10, v.17, v.23 v.6, v.13, v.19, v.28

Something happened to each group of people so that they are commanded to do what? (See v.8, v.15, v.21, v.31)

Read verse 43. This verse encourages us to pay attention because there is a lesson here for us to learn.

We will look at each group and answer these questions:

1. What were their circumstances?

2. What was their response to those circumstances?

3. Why did God intervene?

4. What did He do?

5. What would modern-day examples be?

Reread the entire Psalm.

How long should we cry out to God?

Read Luke 18:1-8

When should we stop praying?

How is God like the Judge?

How is God different from the Judge in the parable?

What does faith have to do with persistence and boldness?

What is your impossible situation?

What can you do right now in your impossible situation?
