Girls may consider the boys as “hot”, because of their rebellious, individual look. However, some men portrayed in the magazine look so rebellious, it’s scary. They relate to this because they are looking for partners and the men represented in the magazine are rebellious rather than conservative. Therefore they have the issue of deciding what kind of partner they want.

Boys appeal to the imagery in the magazine because of their lifestyles they live – The ‘sex drugs & rock and roll’ attitude to life. This appeals to them because of conflict in their lives. The musicians are portrayed in the magazine to have a care-free attitude, and that they do what they want. Teenage boys inspire to be like this because they want the lifestyle and attitude they have, but can’t apply it to their own because they’d get in trouble with authority figures.

These two guys are portraying such an individual style, that it is rebelling against their morals of being male gender because they are wearing a lot of makeup. I personally do not find that appealing because its more aggressive and scary, than an individual and moody look.

There are a lot of gig shots in the magazine, which suggests the audience seem to spend a lot of time and money seeing these bands.

The clothing style for the gigs is casual, such as t-shirts and jeans, where as the clothing style for portraits can be much more smarter, such as suit and ties. The clothes that the musicians are wearing are usually advertised in the magazine, so the readers can ‘get the look’. Clothing style is almost the same throughout the magazine, which suggests that the readership want to take the clothing style and apply it to their

personal image.
