Modern, fuel-efficient vehicle engines provide too little waste heat

to ensure an adequate, comfortable and reliable temperature in the

passenger compartment. With its additional electrical air and water

heaters (PTC heaters), Eberspächer offers effective solutions to this

challenge – with different power settings. Over 40 million vehicles

around the world are already successfully heated by virtue of our

expertise with large series.

But Eberspächer does more than this. we have further developed

and adapted our PTC large series technology specially for small

series, too. Now, a standard plug-in connection ensures seamless

integration in suitable heating systems, for example. Or would you

With ranges for high-voltage applications up to 500 V,

Eberspächer's product range includes PTC water heaters that are

already employed in current generations of vehicles with hybrid,

electric or fuel cell drives. The PTC heater elements offer a high

output range and can be adapted to suit typical voltage ranges, for

highly efficient heating in vehicles with alternative drives, too.

Our PTC water heaters that have been specially adapted for small

series cover a high operating voltage range up to 500 V, and boast

an extremely high heat output of 6 kw. The desired heat output is

controlled completely autonomously by the integrated electronics.

Thanks to the specially designed connection, the heaters can be

installed in an existing coolant circuit quickly and without problem,

while the use of standard components for the coolant circuit

ensures especially cost-effective operation. Furthermore, the PTC

technology is absolutely safe and exceptionally reliable – and the

heater can be installed in any desired position. At the same time,

the compact size and low weight are ideally in tune with the needs

of new, lightweight vehicle generations.

Eberspächer PTC air heaters have been used in series millions of

times over since 1994 and are being constantly further developed.

Today, this highly efficient, economical and lightweight solution is

used all over the world to support the heating function in numerous

vehicles with alternative drives.

For our PTC air heaters, we also offer a specially adapted range for

small series, with heat outputs of up to 1 kw and especially compact

dimensions. Our PTC heating elements can be controlled without

problem using an existing HVAC control panel, and are particularly

speedy at providing an agreeable temperature in the vehicle, as

they directly heat the ambient air. As in our water heaters, the PTC

technology is totally safe and reliable.

OUR PTC HEATING SYSTEMS – SUITABLE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS

Our specially adapted heating systems for small series are ideal for

use in a diverse range of vehicle categories. As they can easily be

adapted to various requirements and circumstances, they can be used

in the following vehicles, for example:

Electric passenger cars

Electric commercial vehicles

Selection of the right Eberspächer product depends on the type of

drive. In a vehicle with purely electric drive, a high-voltage air heater

is installed in the ventilation system, where it provides rapid heat.

In a hybrid vehicle, we recommend installing a high-voltage water

heater in the coolant circuit.

BIOETHANOL HEATERS – GUARANTEED COMFORT AND RANGE:

Innovative fuel heaters from Eberspächer enable electric vehicles to be heated 100 %

with environmentally friendly bioethanol, without adversely affecting the range. And

Eberspächer bioethanol heaters have a major advantage over other battery-independent

fuel heaters: they are almost completely CO2-neutral. The soot-free combustion of

bioethanol is yet another plus point. Exhaust emissions are considerably reduced and are

around 90 % below legally required levels. what's more, the heater has an extremely

low consumption. while the Hydronic water heater uses the vehicle's existing convector

and air vents, the Airtronic air heater can be integrated almost anywhere. It takes in air

via its own fan, and directly heats the vehicle interior. And electric car drivers no longer need to worry about reaching a service station: as

canisters of bioethanol can be purchased online or in hardware stores, they no longer have to plan refueling stops at service stations.

This makes use of waste heat from the engine for heating, so

improving energy efficiency. The PTC heater is then used as an

additional heat source, or when the vehicle is powered purely by

electricity. Major advantage for water heating: The AC system can

pre-heat the sensitive traction battery in the winter, or keep it cool in

the summer (preconditioning function).

And last but not least, in fuel cell-powered vehicles, the energy

produced for powering up the fuel cell on start-up can be used for

heating.
