III. Develops Medium- and Long-Term Management ScenarioD-Challenge 2025

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. ("Daihatsu") announced today that it has developed a medium- and long-term management scenario for the period from 2017 to 2025, called D-Challenge 2025.

Marking its 110th anniversary, Daihatsu will be endeavoring to establish the Daihatsu brand and to solidify its business foundations while operating its business with a focus on MONODUKURI (a concept for auto manufacturing embodying Daihatsu's unique value.) and KOTODUKURI (increasing points of contact with customers and local communities in a way that is unique to Daihatsu.) in accordance with a new group slogan of Light you up, which was launched March 1 with a view to ensure that Daihatsu would continue to exhibit its presence and achieve continued growth and development.

To promote the above two challenges, we develop "personnel" who have the Daihatsu-spirit. We let them achieve self-realization, and we let them encourage each other. By doing so, we produce products with thoughtful consideration for our customers so that they can be fully satisfied.

According to the Daihatsu philosophy, "manufacturing" is "human development," and we have and will foster personnel who have a user-oriented point of view, and can act as such.

Main Points of D-Challenge 2025

♦ MONODUKURI▼ Establish the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA)

- Provide a full lineup encompassing mini vehicles, A segment models and B segment models for emerging countries.- Apply the DNGA to vehicle models planned by the Emerging-market Compact Car Company.- Build closer ties with Toyota Motor Corporation to acquire and incorporate advanced technologies, such as the

electrification of power trains, automated driving and connected technologies, while taking steps to handle those advanced technologies within Daihatsu's independent system.

- Define mini vehicles as the first segment to which the DNGA will be introduced. After that, expand its application speedily to the A segment and then to the B segment for emerging countries.

▼ Strategy for emerging countries- Place the top priority on the ASEAN region, including Indonesia and Malaysia where Daihatsu has long cultivated the

market, in carrying out its efforts.

♦ KOTODUKURI▼ Increase points of contact with customers and local communities.

- Continue grass-roots activities that sales companies and manufacturers have been undertaking independently.- As a new initiative, strengthen ties with society on a group-wide basis on a subject on which Daihatsu will capitalize on its

strengths to contribute to society. Embark on an activity for creating a society that enables the elderly, women, people in rural areas and all others associated with Daihatsu to lead a lively mobility life.

IV. Safety and Trust Measures

Mini vehicles are loved mainly by suburban residents, women and elders. Used for many purposes including going shopping, traveling to hospitals, and picking up items, our mini vehicles are like your partner.

Daihatsu Motors would like these safe and secure mini vehicles, which can be regarded as important partners in our lives, to be everywhere so that people experience safe and secure driving.

Smart Assist IIISmart Assist supports driving safely and avoiding accidents in emergencies. Smart Assist is a crash avoidance system that Daihatsu adopted for mini vehicles for the first time in 2012, in order to

provide the safety and security demanded in daily use vehicles to reduce traffic accidents. *1

The number of vehicles that are equipped with Smart Assist reached 1.3 million in May 2017. Many customers support the system, its functions, and its reasonable price.

*1: As of December 2012 according to a Daihatsu survey.

- Collision warning function (for vehicles and pedestrians) / Crash-avoidance braking function (for vehicles and pedestrians)While you are driving, Smart Assist detects vehicles and pedestrians in front of your vehicle and alerts you to the danger of collision when another car or pedestrian might put your safety at risk.In more emergent situations, Smart Assist decreases your driving speed, applying the emergency brake. These functions help reduce the danger and/or damage of a collision.

- Erroneous start prevention (Front, Rear)When your speed is below about 10km/h, if Smart Assist detects an obstacle in your driving path, and if you have used the wrong petal, such as hitting the acceleration by mistake, Smart Assist will control your speed and engine output, and notify you with a beep and the display on the meter.

- Lane departure warning functionSmart Assist alerts you when your vehicle is about to veer out of lane, so that you can avoid deviating from your lane.

- Preceding vehicle departure reporting functionWhen you fail to notice that the vehicle in front of you accelerates at a traffic signal, Smart Assist notifies you with a beep and the display on the meter.

- Auto high beamDetecting brightness ahead, such as the headlights of oncoming cars, Smart Assist automatically switches between high beam and low beam. The system helps you drive safely at night even when you have limited visibility.
