Q2 How does you media product represent particular social groups?

Gender On the front cover of my magazine this

male artist is featured. He is a new rising artist and will be well known to the public as they will recognise him from being on, for example, music channels. Although my main protagonist is this male artist i do feature a female up incoming artist on my contents page.

All of the artists featured in my

magazine are portrayed as edgy and powerful individuals. Throughout the media, females are always seen as being girly and innocent, i wanted to make my magazine different and show that females do have a fierce side to them.

Age The age within my magazine

ranges from teenagers to young adults (early 30’s) This hooks a wide target audience as they enjoy reading about all the different aged artists.

The age within my magazine is represented as rebellious and mischievous age and is always portrayed in a negative way, however my magazine challenges this representation as my music magazine is portraying them in a positive way.

Class My magazine is targeted at working

class people as the artists in my magazine are working class. This is because working class is a more predominant class in our society today.

Ethnicity In this issue of my magazine my main artist

is white, British. My magazine does not target one ethnicity, it is a multicultural magazine. Different artists are featured on the cover because of their musical success and popularity not their ethnicity.
