My FRONT COVER-Vivid

Existing magazines that represent the same social groups

•My music magazine represents many different social groups which are from different age and gender groups. My sub-culture would be dancers and clubbers.•These include both genders, young teenagers (at school), older teens (at college) and young adults (at university).•Vivid represents the stereotypical females and males aged16-25 years who enjoy going clubbing and have a fun social life. •They are people who are easy to make friends and are passionate dancers

•On the right are some existing magazine front covers that represent similar social groups.• These covers are similar to mine through some of the conventions such as big and bold masthead, coverlines on the side, name of artist in bold and as part of the main coverline as well as the positioning and type of shot (long shot) of the main image. •This means that my music magazine front cover would be appelaling to my target audience and sub-culture.

My content page- Vivid

Existing magazine contents page- mixmag

•My music magazine has the main image smiling to show that people who will buy my magazine are from social groups that enjoy being happy and want to enjoy their life•My main image is looking directly at the audience to get the audience to feel engaged. This direct address to the audience gives and informal feel to the magazine and so represents groups of people that are informal and outgoing.•On both contents pages, the shot of the main image is a medium shot to show parts of their body language and their clothing. On both of the pages, the main image is wearing plain colours and casual clothing.• The main image on my contents page has her hand on her hip which gives the impression that people from this social group pose and behave with attitude and style.

•The image son this contents page are all posing informally to represent that clubbers have more fun and party life, where they can dress casually and stylish rather than a formal work life dressing smartly.

•The colour scheme on both my magazine and mixmag are very simple with only a few main colours, this helps attract my audience and appeal to my social groups and sub-culture.

My DPS- Vivid

Existing magazine DPS’

•All of these double page spreads have a simple colour scheme, with simple font colour and style. •They all have text around the main image to make it look like everything that is written in the article is based around the main artist. •All of the magazines have a long shot of the main artist to make my magazine appeal to my audience. All of the images are seen as the centre of attention as they are looking very dominating. •The existing DPS’ have similar features to my DPS such as by line, quote, introduction to the interview and highlights from the text. These all make my DPS appeal to the social groups I mentioned as well as my sub-culture and age group.

•My music magazine is targeted at both males and females aged 16-25 yrs. This is clear with the image that I have used; I have put a young female on the cover to attract both females and males. The colours that I have used are not portraying one gender only, for example, I have not used a lot of pink as the colour pink is generally associated with pop genre fans who are a bit younger than my target group and who are predominantly young girls. •My magazine would be most suitable for middles class people in society. This has been represented by the choice of images, and the use of the informality. Also with the price of the magazine, it suggests that these group of people would have the money to buy my magazine due to their interest. •This magazine is aimed for those groups of people who are fans of other Dj’s and Electro-dance artists. The images that I have used on my magazine pages are showing the artist as happy, friendly and outgoing, which is what my target audience and social would hope to be like.•My music magazine is not aimed at a particular ethnicity although, there is a belief that electro-dance music is generally liked by white and black people and artists from this genre are mostly either white/British DJ’s or then Black rappers. However, i wouldn’t restrict my magazines for these two races only as I think that there are other ethnic groups who enjoy dance music, go to clubs and listen to artists that produce dance music but are not white or black. For example: There are many Indian rappers and a lot of Indian music that is upbeat and fast just like electro dance music.
