Assalamu-alaikum

Welcome to our post Ramadan update a newsletter for our supporters.

It has been quite a hectic time since Ramadan so apologies for the delay.

So what have we been doing you may ask? Well, we have been busy

utilising your donations to their best advantage and getting the most value

from these much needed funds as these help the most disadvantaged and

poor in our world We don’t just hand money over to third parties on the

ground ,

Here at Qaaf Aid we cover the ground ourselves and this can take time, but

we think it’s worth doing as you can physically see how your donation has

helped .Within these pages ,we hope to give you a brief glimpse of how your

continued support and donations have gone in serving those most in need.

May Almighty Allah bless our efforts with his acceptance, forgive our

shortcomings and enable us to serve humanity Jazakallah khair for your

continued support.

Flood Relief

These are some of t he pictur es of Flood AffectedAreas in Di st rict Nowshera Paki stan. thousands of

houses damaged, most ly or destroyed.

Although these efforts ,were run on a ad hoc basis

did make some difference to the people we helped

however little in magnitude of the disaster were

only possible with your help and support !!

Location: Muhib Banda Distt; Nowshera Khyber

Banda Distt; Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan

Dist by: Dr Mukhtar Ahmad (Qaaf Volunteers)

Relief goods for Each family: 11 Food items,

total Weight: 46 kgs

Total families assisted: 420

Date of Distribution:16 Sep 2010The floods in Pakistan were a national tragedy we allsaw the moving footage beamed across terrestrial and

international TV networks. During this disaster we re-

sponded by working with our sister charity Qaaf Wel-

fare Foundation., to provide emergency provisions of

food water and medicine to the flood survivors.

The scale of the disaster was even, in comparison with

the tsunamis , earthquakes and hurricanes of the last

few years – unprecedented. Unfortunately, various

theories were thrown around about why this response

was not forthcoming – in addition to the now familiar"donor fatigue", there was the added element, particular

to Pakistan, of "image deficit" (a phrase that encom-

passed both a lack of sympathy for the Pakistanis who

were suffering and lack of trust that anyone in Paki-

stan's government would correctly allocate humanitar-

ian donations, never mind that those donations could

go directly to the world's most reputed aid agencies.

Having said that, many people who have family ties to

Pakistan will have seen relatives suffering because of

the floods, decided to get together and fundraise indi-

vidually and through community groups to get as

much emergency aid there as possible. May Allah re-

wards them for there efforts.

Concrete rings being loaded down to

depths on average of 40 to 60 feet.

Once these are installed. The well is

lined with concrete to cover any gaps.

In the back ground are the rings to line

the well. These are left out to dry in the

sun for a week until they are set.The simplest wells have traditionally

been hand dug. That's right...by hand.

They can be fifty or more feet deep and

are used when ground water is gener-

ally abundant.

The prophet peace be upon him

Whoever digs a well, there will be

no one who dr inks from it amongst

Allah will rew ard him on the Day of

Build A

Masjid

Alhamdulillah following the

successful completion of Three

Masjids in the Gambia We have

an appeal to help construct a

Masjid in Guinea Bissau

Did you know that he or she who builds a Masjid, or helps in doing soearns the ajir (reward/good deeds) for every person walking in to pray, every person entering the Masjid to make wudu, reading Quran, or anyother good deed. It gets even better, unlike other good deeds you earnnow; this one doesn’t stop when you die. Which call waqf

The word waqf is used to define a charitable donation in the form of money, property orother tems of value, which are used to bring a return, but which cannot be disposed of or spent. Hence a waqf donation keeps on giving year on year, making it a prime formof sadaqah jariah (continuous charity).

No matter how religious you are, no one is perfect, shaytan has his

ways. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something that replaces your badDo it with sincerity and pay attention to the good things that happen

Qaaf Aid would like to thank all our donors for their donations and support towards QA

Qurbani through the last few years. We managed to distribute fresh Qurbani meat on Eid,

enabling the poor and hungry to join in the festivities. More pictures at www.qaafaid.org.

Who is Required to Perform Qurbani?

Every adult Muslim, male or female, who owns 613.35grams of silver or its equivalent in money, personalornaments, stock-in-trade or any other form of wealthwhich is surplus to his basic needs,
