Analysis…• I have adapted my design around Q magazine and NME magazine who have

the same target audience as SOA magazine

• Firstly the masthead is similar to Q and NME. I felt by thetitle it would become a similar to how Q and NME are today. Ialso adapted the around my design which I thinkachieves the same affect as NME and Qs mastheads

• I also went for the of . I did this by ;which is similar to what Q magazine does. Overall I preferred how Qpresented their magazine in a minimalistic way and I feel I have adapted thiswell to suit SOA magazine. Its very

.

• Similar to both NME and Q magazine I decided to put the main featuredartist in . This will my audience as it is most likelyto be the most interesting feature.

• Finally; similar to both NME and Q magazine, I chose a quote which is aof what the feature is like. This the reader to want to

Analysis• I chose to my design around Rewind magazine contents page. The main

similarity is the . These images were edited on the. With this I felt it would my target audience

as I thought a hobby would be photography. Also making it a regular featurewould add to the magazine.

• I also used the same headings “CONTENTS” “FEATURES” and “REGULARS”. Ifelt this broke up the page well, keeping the photos as the whichwas what I was intending to do.

• Finally I only used the black and white from the black, white and red colourscheme. I felt red would have made the page quite & I wanted to keep the

approach throughout

• One of the I made was using . I addedthe links as a caption to the photos after my of my firstdesign. This has improved my contents page as I feel

, and also .

• I also changed the order, putting the features first instead of the regulars todraw attention to what was made clearest on the front cover.

• I felt a black border would make the page more striking which would attractmy target audience and still draw focus onto the images.

• Finally on my contents page there are no page numbers or dates, I felt thiswasn’t necessary and would ruin the image I am trying to convey. If I would have added them, it would make the page .

ANALYSISsuggested that the arctic monkeys were the most popular

artists, and they were represented to the audience as looking . Itried to do the same with my images by editing them to make them

. I think this has been done successfully and similar to the images in the NMEmagazine double page spread.

• On the NME magazine double page spread, there is a small feature about what theartist is currently listening too. I felt I could incorporate my into this and makeup a feature called This would beincluded in every artist interview. This would definitely

, as I previously stated they are likely to want to.

• I think the use of a of the band. I feel this iswhich is what would

.

• I also like the use of the , which I feel isvery successful in to boys and girls with a reasonablerange in age (around 16-22).

MAGAZINE TIMELINE – Double page spreadSTAGE 3: After successful feedback on my firsttwo drafts I made my design after I’d taken mypictures. I edited these images and placedthem in the same style as the arctic monkeysNME cover – a photo montage. I also added inthe SOA feature in different place to where Ihad planned so the article was more easy toread.AUDIENCE FEEDBACK:

STAGE 4: Here is my final design after all of the audiencefeedback I had received. This is what will finally be evaluated. The previous audience feedback told me to add in a title, So I thought Iwould combine the SOA feature and the title together for twopurposes. I had also accidently used non-original images in theprevious design which were probably copyrighted to I removed theminstantly adding in the title instead. Finally I had to move the textslightly to the left to take into consideration the margins and bindery. Ialso changed the page numbers so that it linked with the contentspage

I did not take on the feedback to brighten the images – this is because Iwanted a dark mise-en-scene after researching the bands I wasinspiring my photography around.
