Dear Friends, Welcome to Bible Center! I’m really glad you’re here. At the end of both services, we’ll enjoy communion, a me when we pass small cups of bread and juice and invite all Chrisans to eat and drink together. Have you ever wondered why we pracce communion? Curiosity is healthy, especially when it drives us to the Bible for answers. First, Jesus told us to do it in His remembrance. On the night before He was crucified, Luke records, He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way, aſter the supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you" (Luke 20:19-20). Furthermore, communion reminds today’s church that we are connected to yesterday’s church. (It even points back to the ancient Jewish Passover celebraon.) God has shown mercy and salvaon to His people for millennia! We are a small—but significant—generaon in a long lineage of grace. As you enjoy communion today, try imagining a heavenly banquet hall where believers of all ages are reunited on the new earth. Finally, communion reminds us that Jesus is sll with us today. About communion, C. S. Lewis wrote, “Here a Hand from the hidden country touches not only my soul, but my body.” May God encourage you through today’s communion service! This Week’s Book Recommendation

The Lost Art of Disciple Making by LeRoy Eims

What is Bible Center called to do?Matthew 28:18-20

Second in an 4-part series titled: Find Your Fit

Pastor Matt Friend – August 13, 2017

What's our mission? Glorifying God by producing more maturing followers of Jesus. (v. 19)

What's a follower of Jesus (disciple)? Someone who has accepted Jesus' invitation to start…

• Following Him as Lord (v. 18; Luke 14:25-33)

• Obeying Him in life (v. 20; John 8:30-32)

• Showing Him in love (John 13:31-32)

How do we make disciples? By…1. Going about our business (v. 19)

2. Sending the Gospel to all nations (v. 19)

3. Baptizing Jesus-followers (v. 19)

4. Teaching Jesus-followers (v. 20)

Why are we so excited about making disciples? Because Jesus is building His church and simply invites us to join Him. (vv. 18, 20; Matthew 16:18)

What's today's main encouragement? Make one decision today to help you make more disciples tomorrow.

TUESDAYOLD TESTAMENT OVERVIEWPastor Mike GrahamAug 29-Nov 14 This Old Testament overview will give participants a solid, working knowledge of the major themes throughout the OT. In the OT, God reveals His faithful nature and redemptive plan for the world while Israel struggles to believe and obey. Expect fun and lively discussion with intentional personal application.

ANXIETY: HOPE AND HELP WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE TOO MUCHJessica VonCristAug 29-Sep 19 Recent studies show that anxiety is on the rise in a big way—and it’s not just in the U.S. Why are we so anxious? What are we so afraid of? Will enough faith “heal” me? How do I deal with the day-to-day? How can I help someone I know? We’ll discuss these questions and more, offering encouragement and hope through stories, Scripture and songs.

WEDNESDAYPARENTING IS HEART WORKMitri & Heather GhareebSep 27-Nov 15 Are you struggling to see your parenting strategies work? There are countless ways to try to get a child's attention and to effect change, but here's the truth… unless you deal with a child through his or her heart, you are not likely to see lasting change. In this 8-part video series, you can learn to truly reach your child's heart to teach, train and build a tremendous relationship. Topics such as: teaching kids to listen and follow instructions, teaching children to accept "no," and correction ideas will all be included.

THURSDAYFINDING HOPE IN THE END TIMESPastor Chad CowanAug 31-Nov 16 Blood moons, red heifers, and Middle East con licts are commonly associated as signals that the end is near, but how should we be thinking about the end times? In this class, we will take an in depth look at the end of all things, the hope it can bring us today, and the nature of the Church and Israel in the discussion.

ABOUT WORKSHOPSWorkshops are short-term, evening classes designed to educate believers in various aspects of the Christian life. There are no prerequisites. Attend as many classes as you like and anyone is invited. Classes begin at 6:45 PM and end at 7:45 PM. For questions, email Pastor Chad (ccowan) or call the church office at (304) 346-0431.
