Team and player data for the specified event are displayed in the table. The table headersare as follows:

S - Skins. If a player has an "S" beside his name he is included in the skins report.

Paxton League Overview

The Paxton League is a four man team league which plays a "player versus player / team versus team" format. It has 1 "baseball" style division (no inter divisional play) with four flights. The league awards one point per holefor player vs player. Handicaps are based on 90% of the best 5 of 8 scores.

p. 3

League Manager Tutorial

Note:This league is only a sample of one kind of league the software can run. The League Manager can runalmost any kind of league...anywhere from an individual league to team leagues with up to 12 players perteam. The Paxton league is a league that plays with opposing teams\players, however LM can also handleNON-opposing leagues. These leagues usually play against the course, against the field, best net score,etc... You can also have up to 6 divisions (Baseball or Football style) with up to 6 flights in each division.Handicapping and Points parameters can also be set any number of ways.

Adding a Substitute

You are currently posting scores for event #3. You have one scorecard left to post and you discover that TomWisenbaugh on team 1 was unable to play. Donald Cobb substituted for him. To make the substitution:

1. Click your mouse on Tom Wisenbaugh. He is on team 1.Tip: A quick way to move to a player is to start typing his\her last name. Type "WI" and you will have TomWisenbaugh selected.

2. Click the Substitution button on the bottom of the screen. The substitute list will appear.

3. Double click on Donald Cobb (Sub#9) in the "Select Substitute Player" list.

Notice how Tom Wisenbaugh's name has been changed to "WISENBAUGH, To<> SUB#09 COBB, Donald". Thislets you quickly know that Donald Cobb is subbing for Tom Wisenbaugh. Note also the Substitution button nowreads REMOVE SUB when Tom Wisenbaugh is highlighted. This is the button you would click if for some reasonyou wanted to remove the substitute.

Typing in a Score Card

There is only one more scorecard to type in. The fastest way to enter scorecards is to use the numeric pad. Makesure your NUMLOCK is on and get ready to type.

1. Highlight either Paul Shade or Tom Wisenbaugh. Click your mouse on the player, type last name, or usearrow keys to select.

2. Press the '+' key to pull up the scorecard or right double-click your mouse on the player. Type in thefollowing scores for each golfer.

p. 4

League Manager Tutorial

3. Press the "+" key to close the card.League Manager automatically calculates gross score, net score, adjusted gross score (used for handicaps),points, pars, birdies, and eagles. It also builds a large range of reports, including skins, ringer reports, andcourse results.

Note: You do not have to enter scores hole by hole, you can enter totals only. If you do decide to entertotals only, it is up to you to calculate gross scores, adjusted gross scores, points, pars, birdies, eagles, whatever you need to track. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND entering scorecards hole by hole! It's much faster thanentering total scores...and you'll be surprised at the number of scorecards it catches that are incorrectlycalculated. Also, any reports that rely on hole information will be disabled (skins report, ringer reports, course report, etc.) Plus, YOU end up doing all the work, not the computer!

Print reports

In this section you'll print some reports. Reports let you print out team standings, individual standings, schedules, pairing sheets, scorecards, ringer reports, skins sheets, mailing labels, plus many other types of reports. To viewsome of these reports:

Handicap Examples

For the examples below, you may want to follow along in the Handicap Parameters form available under theSetup menu by selecting Handicap Calculation Parameters.

You want to use the best 4 of the player’s last 6 scores, and use 90% to determine the handicap. Setthe Parameters as follows:Handicap Percent(%) figure ..... 90Number of scores handicap based on....6Minimun number of scores needed…1

1 0 02 1 03 1 04 2 05 2 06 2 0

When a player has 1 score, the only score (no scores are discarded) will be used for a handicap. When a player has 2 scores, the lowest 1 will be used for a handicap. (Highest 1 score discarded)When a player has 3 scores, the lowest 2 will be used for a handicap. (Highest 1 score discarded)When a player has 4 scores, the lowest 2 will be used for a handicap. (Highest 2 scores discarded)When a player has 5 scores, the lowest 3 will be used for a handicap. (Highest 2 scores discarded)When a player has 6 scores, the lowest 4 will be used for a handicap. (Highest 2 scores discarded)

John Smith is now in event #8 and has the following scores for events 1 to 7. What is his handicap forevent #8? League Manager calculates the handicap as follows:

Event # Used Score7 * 456 * 465 * 444 483 492 * 401 41

John has 7 scores available. Only the last 6 scores are selected for consideration. (Events 7-2). Thebest 4 of these 6 scores are used to determine the handicap. Assume 35.0 is the rating and 110 theslope for all scores.

SCORE Differential 45 (45-35.0) x 113/110 = 10.3 46 (46-35.0) x 113/110 = 11.3 44 (44-35.0) x 113/110 = 9.2 40 (40-35.0) x 113/110 = 5.1

-----35.9

The average differential is determined – 35.9 / 4 = 8.98The handicap is determined and rounded off 8.98 x .90 (handicap % figure) = 8.08 Handicap for John Smith is 8.08

Note: Handicaps are automatically carried forward to the next event if not enough scores are available tocalculate a handicap. This means if you manually enter a handicap for a player in event 1, and he/she doesnot have enough scores to calculate a handicap, it will be automatically carried forward to each successiveevent until a calculated handicap can be established.

Exact USGA Formula

From the Setup menu select Handicap Calculation Parameters and you will see a form that includes the belowinformation fields.

If you want to calculate an exact USGA handicap, fill in the form as follows:Handicap Percent(%) figure ..... 96Number of scores handicap based on....20Minimun number of scores needed…5

The table above follows the exact USGA formula - 96% of the best 10 out of 20 scores. Please note that 20 scoresare required to produce a full USGA handicap and at least 5 scores are required before an initial handicap iscalculated. Most leagues do not use USGA handicapping because it takes too long to develop a handicap, plushandicaps change very slowly.

You can deviate slightly from the USGA and relax the minimum number of scores required from 5 to 1. This allowsyou to calculate the initial handicap with only one score. Remember—only the best score out the first 5 or 6 will beused for handicapping. The results will be that handicaps will move only down at first and then handicaps will slowlystabilize. If your players don’t have at least 10 practice\previous scores I would not recommend emulating theUSGA handicap system.
