FINISHING : Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top

together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

QUILT ASSEMBLY:7. Row Assembly: Arrange and sew blocks into rows as shown in diagram below.

8. Pieced sashing strips: Sew (7) H, (4) K and (3) I 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangles together as shown to create pieced sashing strips. Make 2.

9. Sew (1) O 1 ¼” x 42 ½” strip to the top and bottom of each pieced sashing strip. Then sew (1) G 2” x 42 ½” strip to the top and bottom of each pieced sashing strip.

10. Sew pieced sashing strip units and House rows together as shown to complete quilt center.

BLOCK ASSEMBLY: HOUSE BLOCK A1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 A (3 1/2” x 3 1/2”) square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of 1 J (3 1/2” x 6 1/2”) rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4” away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal A corner triangle. Repeat with another A (3 1/2” x 3 1/2”) square on the same J (3 1/2” x 6 1/2”) rectangle to complete 1 AJ FLYING GEESE UNIT. Square to 3 ½” x 6 ½”.

2. Sew (1) I (3 ½” x 6 ½”) rectangle to the bottom of AJ FLYING GEESE UNIT. Square to 6 ½” x 6 ½”.

(Use A 3 ½” squares and D 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle for �lying geese unit.Use C 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle and 2 C 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangles and 1 K 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangle for door.)

(Use 2 A 3 ½” squares and 1 M 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle for �lying geese unit. Use L 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle and 2 L 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangles and 1 E 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangle for door.)

BLOCK ASSEMBLY: HOUSE BLOCK B4. Repeat Step 1 to make the following �lying geese units: 3 AD Units and 5 AN Units.

5. Sew (1) A (1 1/2” x 6 1/2”) rectangle on the top of the AD �lying geese units, and (1) B (2 1/2” x 6 1/2”) rectangle to the bottom of the �lying geese unit. Repeat step using the A (1 ½” x 6 ½”) rectangle and then adding the F (2 ½” x 6 ½”) rectangle to the bottom of the AN �lying geese units. Square to 6 ½” x 6 ½”.

6. Sew (1) B (2 ½” x 4 ½”) rectangle to each side of (1) D (2 ½” x 4 ½”) rectangle. Sew to the bottom of unit made in Step 5. Make 3. Repeat steps to make 3 FDF units and 2 FKF units. Sew these units to bottom of AN units made in Step 5. Square to 6 ½” x 10 ½”.
