From Kathryn and Sandy

As we look back on 11 years of Bear Paw Quilting, we are grateful for the gift of the many friendships we have developed through our business. One of our favorite memories to share is the story of how we started our shop. It is one that you may or may not have heard! We met in 2002 over Sandy’s log cabin quilt that Kathryn was going to machine quilt. During the process we talked about the local quilt shop closing and our mutual interest in all things fabric! Having an inkling of how involved running a business like this would be, Kathryn told Sandy she would never make the commitment without having a business partner. Sandy immediately responded “I’ll be your business partner!” To this Kathryn replied “maybe we should meet for coffee first!”

We joke about the surprising spontaneity of this conversation now and the fact that we were only barely acquainted! We did meet for coffee and discovered a shared passion for fabric & quilting and Bear Paw was born! We each brought unique skills and business backgrounds mixed with healthy helping of pure luck! Interesting how fate works and in the process we have built a strong friendship.

Thank you for sharing these years with us! It has been a wonderful journey that has enriched both of our lives. We hope to be here to serve your quilting & sewing needs for many more years!
