Symbols The following table shows the symbols used in the mounting position sheets and their meaning:

    Thermal losses

You may either contact SEW-EURODRIVE in the above cases, or you may visit PT Pilot®at www.ptpilot.com for online assistance. PT Pilot® considers oil churning losses andautomatically calculating your permissible input HP based upon your mounting position andambient temperature for any ratio and gear unit size. If necessary, it will add FKM seals andsynthetic oil.

    Symbol Meaning

    Breather valve

    Oil level plug1)

    1) Does not apply to the first gear unit (larger gear unit) of multi-stage gear units

    Oil drain plug

    Cable entry position "3"3

Excessive thermal losses may occur in some mounting positions due to large amount of oil churning, as noted below. The resultant heat may limit the input HP capacity or require additional protection against heat damage. See page 45 for explanation of thermal losses.

    Miscellaneous Notes

INFORMATIONSPIROPLAN® gear units are not dependant on the mounting position, except for W..37and W..47 in mounting position M4. However, mounting positions M1 to M6 are alsoshown for SPIROPLAN® gear units to assist you in working with this documentation.

Important! Please note:SPIROPLAN® gear units W..10 to W..30 cannot be equipped with breather valves, oillevel plugs, or drain plugs.SPIROPLAN® gear units W..37 and W..47 can be equipped with breather valves inmounting position M4 and with oil drain plugs in mounting position M2.

INFORMATIONShafts:• For gear units with solid shaft: The displayed shaft is always on the A end.• For shaft-mounted gear units: The shaft with dashed lines represents the

customer’s shaft. The shaft entry is always shown on the A side.

    INFORMATION

The permissible mounting surfaces are shown as hatched areas on the mountingposition pages.
