Region 10 Life Member Activities ( Home Page )
What is IEEE Life Member?
Life Member is applicable only to a IEEE member who has attained the age of 65 years
and who has been a member of IEEE for such period that the sum of his/her age and
his/her years of membership equals or exceeds 100 years. Members who qualify each
year will be notified by mail in the fourth quarter of the qualifying year. "Life" status
will be effective on 1 January of the following year.
Life Members represent an invaluable repository of personal experiences involving the
history of areas of interest to IEEE.
Benefits of IEEE Life Membership
Dues and regional assessments are waived for a Life member.
For qualifying Life members, Society fees are waived.
Individuals may receive reduced member rates at IEEE sponsored conferences.
Life Members continue to receive the same benefits that are available to other IEEE
members.
Life Members Affinity Group ( LMAG )
A Life Members Affinity Group is a local unit of an IEEE organizational unit,
constituted by IEEE members who have obtained Life Member Status and established
by petition, concerned to represent and fulfill the needs of the local IEEE Life members.
LM Groups can help to enable LMs to retain active IEEE associations, contribute to the
social good in their communities, advance IEEE´s professional interests and enjoy each
other's company.

The Life Members Committee believes that keeping Life Members active and engaged
is a key component to the success of the IEEE in local IEEE activities. In Region 10,
there are only five LMAGs---- Bombay Section, Kansai Section, New South Wales
Section, South Australia Section, and Tokyo Section. Therefore, it is strongly
encouraged to form new LMAGs in the Region 10.
How to establish a new Life Member Affinity Group
A petition to establish a Life Member Affinity Group must be submitted and approved
by the IEEE Life Members Committee Chair, Regional Director and Section Chair.
The petition to establish an Affinity Group shall contain the following:
Name of the Section/s or Council.
Name of the parent organizational unit.
Name of the organizer.
Signatures of at least six (6) IEEE Members (at least 2 LMs) , other than Students, who
are Members of the Section(s) involved and who indicate they will join the Affinity
Group if established.
