Want your own e-Bike for 10 weeks? RAC is running a trial of e-Bikes in Perth. The trial is an exciting opportunity to gain insight into user experiences and perceptions to help increase awareness, understanding and ultimately usage of e-Bikes. E-Bikes have the potential to reduce car dependency and increase mobility and, by undertaking this trial, we hope to better understand the role of e-Bikes in helping cycling to become a more attractive and convenient travel option for a wider range of people. E-Bikes (or power-assisted pedal cycles) are bicycles with an electric motor providing assistance to the rider. E-Bikes are increasing in popularity around the world, with many people finding them a quick, convenient and easy way to get around. The trial will be supported by the City of Perth (CoP), City of Wanneroo (CoW) and Your Move, Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Medical Centre Trust and University of Western Australia (UWA). How will the trial work? We are looking for 40 participants, 10 employees from each of the four areas: CoP, CoW, QEII and UWA. By taking part in the trial each participant will have unlimited and exclusive access to a SmartMotion e-City e-Bike for a 10-week period, commencing 31 August 2015. It’ll be just like having your own e-Bike to use as much as you want, saving you time and money and helping you to be more active! Participants will receive a demonstration of how to use the e-Bike, cycle skills and on-road cycle training, discounts for selected products offered by Perth Electric Bike Centre and useful resources (e.g. maps and information on road rules) to help them plan their journeys. Haven’t ridden a bike in a while? Don’t worry! We’ll provide you with information and help you gain valuable skills and knowledge so you can feel confident using your e-Bike. Want your own e-Bike for 10 weeks?RAC is running a trial of e-Bikes in Perth.

How will the trial work?We are looking for 40 participants, 10 employees from each of the four areas: CoP, CoW, QEII and UWA.

The trial will be launched at an informal breakfast event, involving all participants and supporting partners, on Friday 28 August 2015.

Who can take part?Participants who are employees of:> the CoP, QEII and UWA should live within 20km of their usual place of work;

> the CoW should be Wanneroo residents and participants of the Your Move Wanneroo program.

Consider themselves to be:> fit and heathy to ride a bike;

> willing and able to ride to / from work at least two days a week; and

> happy for their experiences and stories to be used for publications, case studies and marketing activities associated with the trial.

No matter your age or riding experience, if you’re interested and meet the criteria we’d love to hear from you!

What would I have to do?Participants will be expected to: > complete a cycle skills and on-road training session delivered by WestCycle -

> 2pm to 4pm on Friday 28 August for CoW employees,

> either 10am to 12pm on Friday 28 August or 10am to 12pm on Saturday 29 August for CoP, QEII and UWA employees (allocated on a first come first serve basis and held near a central Perth location);

> provide their own cycling helmet (helmets meeting AS/NZS2063:2008 are recommended);

> ride responsibly and abide by the relevant traffic and road rules;

> complete pre and post-trial surveys and a simple online weekly travel diary as part of the trial evaluation; and

> most importantly, enjoy themselves and make the most of their e-Bike!

What if you love the bike that much you want to keep it?We hope that’s exactly how you feel and that you keep the momentum going by continuing to commute by bicycle following the trial.

To help you on your way, we’ll be offering participants an opportunity to purchase an e-Bike from the trial (on a first come first serve basis) at a substantial discount of 50% off the RRP, that's just $1,199!

Yes, you heard right! If you’re quick, you can keep your e-Bike (which by the way, comes with 2 free services and warranty) for half the retail price!
