February 23, 2014 (Competitive Edge MX Park) - Round 2 of the Monster Energy Road to Mammoth series proved once more just how competitive the west coast MX scene has become. While fans enjoyed the pristine weather, the racers battled head-to-head on the track at Competitive Edge MX Park.

Reminding everyone what it takes to race in the pros, Troy Lee Designs’ Jessy Nelson dominated every moto in three pro classes on his number 50

Honda. Chris Alldredge spent the day on Nel-son’s heels, his 188 Kawasaki finishing second behind Nelson in Open Pro-Sport, as well as the 250 and 450 Pro Sport classes. Fellow Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda rider Justin Hoeft followed in third in the 250 Pro Sport class and fourth in 450 Pro Sport. Lucas Oil rider Jake Mohnike finished sixth in 250 Pro Sport. Team 2X’s Derek Drake swept both motos in the Mini Sr 2 9-14 class on his num-ber 33 KTM. We witnessed some great battles between Drake, KTM rider Mitchell Falk, and Kawasaki rider Sean Cantrell, but it was Falk with the win in both the Supermini 1 and 2 classes. Round 2 saw some great racing from Josh Mosiman who took first in both the 250 B/C Open and College Boy B/C classes on his 242 KTM. Not far behind was RJ Wageman, who finished second in both classes, but also took first in 250 B, followed by 351 Tristan

Miller, and Mosiman in third. Miller also took first in Schoolboy 2 (13-16). Team 2X’s Bryce Stroud a.k.a the Holeshot King took first in the 450 C class after winning both motos on his 252 Kawa-saki, followed by 79 Travis West, also on a Kawasaki. It was another great day for little man Ryder Difrancesco, who swept all four motos in the 50cc and 65cc (6-8) classes, and took fifth in the 65cc Open. Hunter Cross scored the win in the 65cc (9-11) class on his 71 KTM, but in the 85cc (9-11) class he lost to number 50 Manuel Moreno on a Kawasaki.
