DAN. 12:1 / “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has chargeof your people. … At that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose

name shall be found written in the book.”

Angels are spiritual beings created by God. They don’t have human formsor characteristics like you do. In the Bible, multiple descriptions of angelsare given. The prophet Isaiah (IS. 6:2; 8:8) describes them with wings.

are given. The prophet Isaiah (IS. 6:2; 8:8) describes them with wings.John had a vision of angels blowing trumpets (REV. 9:14). Many times,God sent angels as His messengers to Earth in human form to delivermessages to people (Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Elijah). Angels protectedDaniel in the lion’s den (DANIEL 6) and the three men thrown into thefiery furnace (DANIEL 3).

Although there are many angels, few are named in the Bible. One of thenamed angels is Michael. The Church celebrates the angels on a specialday of the Church year called the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. While the angels are holy ad enjoy the presence of God, they are notadored. All glory and honor goes to Jesus. God sent an angel to Mary andJoseph to share how they would be part of God’s plan to save the world.Angels appeared to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus (LUKE2). An angel was sent to be with Jesus in his agony in the Garden ofGethsemane (LUKE 22:43). Angels came on Easter morning to announceJesus’ resurrection (LUKE 24). Angels are at the throne of Jesus, givingHim glory now, and will join us in the praise of Jesus in eternity.

As we wait to be with Jesus, God sends His angels to protect His children(PS. 91:9–12). He keeps us safe from all harm and danger, not onlythrough parents, government, and pastors, but also through the angels.Imagine an army of angels protecting us as we play on the playground, aswe travel home from school, and always. Sadly, some people think thatangels are only make-believe, like fairy tales. But the Bible teaches, andJesus taught, that the angels are very real. The worship God togetherwith us, singing, “Holy, holy, holy.” And today we thank God for them.
