Our Keynote SpeakerKathy CatonFounder and Managing Director of Brighton Gin

Kathy Caton is the Founder and Managing Director of Brighton Gin, the gold medal-winning gin made from the city’s first (legal!) distillery, with the aim of taking the Spirit of Brighton to the world.

She’s a Brighton obsessive with a passion for good food, booze, arts and culture. When not making gin she can be found broadcasting and podcasting - currently live on BBC Radio Sussex & BBC Radio Surrey every Thursday 8-10pm. She has recently launched the drinks-industry focused podcast - The Sipping Forecast podcast - with new episodes available weekly via all the usual platforms like Spotify, Google Podcasts or Anchor.

Brighton Gin was born of a passion for gin, and a passion for the place where we live and play. We wanted to create a gin that embodied the spirit of Brighton: unusual, playful and fiercely independent. This ethos is part of our core brand values. We are building an ethical, sustainable business for Brighton that is bringing a brand new manufacturing sector for the city, and our move into exports helps spread the name of ‘Brand Brighton’ beyond our local and national borders.

Brighton Gin is a brand built on solid, ethical values, a category-leading product and made by a genuinely diverse workforce who we hope are with us for the full journey into the unknown!

Most recently, we have found ourselves making hand sanitiser to support front-line workers during the Covid-19 crisis which is certainly not something that ever appeared in any business plan at any stage!

Hello Entrepreneurs,

Thank you for joining us for our RE-DEFINED conference!

Together, we have carefully curated and creatively produced an aspirational and practical conference that will hopefully inspire you to make the necessary changes to your business to drive it forward.

We both believe that women play an important role in the economic development of our country and make powerful business leaders. This conference highlights some of the women who have achieved this to date and who are our role models. We also wanted you to leave with some practical tools to take away which you can then use in your daily life and work.

A famous quote that sums up our vision for the conference is ‘We are more powerful when we empower each other’. This conference is open to everyone. We want to create a community where everyone can be celebrated for what they are doing and support one another along their entrepreneurial journey.

We hope you enjoy your time together today.

Best wishes,

Clare Griffiths and Karen Stenning

My Business Re-defined: How to Pivot Your BusinessDelivered by Barbara Armstrong OBE, Founder of P Three and Author

About Barbara Armstrong OBEI had worked my way up to the most senior level of business leadership and things were going great. You’d think that I would have been happy right? Wrong! I loved what I did, but I needed a new challenge. The thought of simply being CEO of another company wasn’t inspiring me. That’s when I decided to start my own business. Of course, most people thought I was crazy to leave a well paid, secure job, but my dad reminded me that

even as a little girl I had always dreamt of having my own business. By combining my love of helping others succeed with my business experience I knew what business I had to be in. This was the birth of my baby – P Three Business Development. Now, 16 years later, P Three is still going, helping as many businesses as we can. I’m also Founding Partner of Mindplay which is all about rekindling imagination at work. I’ve also achieved other dreams – becoming the author of my first book ‘Get Fit for Growth’ and being a professional speaker (or ‘professional show-off’ according to my daughter). Wow, what a journey. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
